The causes of and remedies for annoying background shadows on photographs taken using the techniq... more The causes of and remedies for annoying background shadows on photographs taken using the technique described by Emery and Winterbottom are outlined. A table is presented indicating exposures, flash positions, aquarium size, and required extension tubes for specimens of 15–420 mm total length. Three recently published fish photography techniques are briefly reviewed. Solutions to problems experienced with power sources, reflection, and depth of field in photographing small subjects are discussed.
