This study sought to assess rural people‘s level of satisfaction with motorcycle taxi transport s... more This study sought to assess rural people‘s level of satisfaction with motorcycle taxi transport services, taking Rongo Sub-County, Kenya as a typical case. This awareness is crucial to transport planning, particularly in the pursuit of an equitable mobility system in rural Kenya, Africa and beyond. The main data collection tool was a semi-structured questionnaire which was complemented by a key informant interview schedule, focus group discussions guide and an observation checklist. The study found that while the satisfaction of the respondents ranged from neutral to satisfied there was a strong difference between groups. Most of the respondents were satisfied with the MT services, largely due to the physical attributes of the MT. Negative reasons were mainly related to MT riders‘ mannerism, unprofessional driving, and poor safety. Nonetheless, almost all respondents recognised the importance of motorcycle taxi transport in realising their needs of accessing locations and activities...

In 2015, the global Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) stood at 216 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births (World Health Organization, 2015 ; UNFPA, 2015), which translated to more than 300,000 deaths worldwide. Developing countries accounted for approximately 99% of all maternal deaths, with sub-Saharan Africa alone accounting for roughly 66%, followed by Southern Asia at approximately 22%. This study set out to investigate gender differences in contraceptive use and preference among pe... more This study set out to investigate gender differences in contraceptive use and preference among persons living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHAs). The study was conducted in a rural setting in the South-western part of Kenya. The study revealed that women have a higher rate of attendance of ART and reproductive health clinic than their male counterparts. This study also found that women demonstrated a higher level of knowledge regarding contraceptive methods, compared to men. Finally, the study reveals that while more women in the study area preferred implants over any other contraceptive method, most of them nonetheless utilize injections more than implants. This could be as a result of the influence of their male sexual partners, most of whom prefer the injection. The study further reveals that men preferred condoms mainly because of the influence of the clinical officers’ advice and their ready
