This chapter details how to set up an Apache Kafka cluster in a cloud environment and how to monitor the cluster minutely to keep up its performance. Kafka is an open‐source distributed event/message streaming platform. The chapter describes the security of the cluster. Security features and their usage are extremely flexible in Kafka. It divides Kafka security into three levels: encryption, authentication and authorization. Apache Kafka is an open‐source and widely used distributed event streaming platform. As events abound in scale and complexity, it is essential to meticulously grasp all kinds of events in order and process them with the prime aim of event driven activation and integration of different and distributed applications and services. Cloud‐native applications are going to be predominantly event driven, the role and responsibility of Kafkaare well‐known.
