This paper proposes the direct manipulation of parallel coordinates and introduces two
novel techniques to manipulate them. The polyline averaging makes it possible to
summarize dynamically a set of polylines, and the other technique visualizes correlation
coefficients between polyline subsets. Both techniques were implemented on a Java-based
parallel coordinate browser.
