Associate Professor at the University of Évora, with a PhD in Mathematics from the same university. He held several positions, as Pro-Rector for the areas of Innovation, Transfer, Entrepreneurship, and Cooperation, being currently a Course Director in Mathematics Applied to Economics and Management and Coordinator of the Research Line in Mathematical Modelling in Life Sciences and Applications from Research Center in Mathematics and Applications (CIMA). He is responsible for curricular units of the different study cycles, and supervised undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. He has coordinated several projects between the University and the community and has several publications on methodological statistics and on statistical modelling and data analysis, dealing with data from different areas. He is currently the Principal Investigator of the project Modelling and Prediction of Road Traffic Accidents in the District of Setúbal, financed by the FCT, which ends in June 2022. Furthermore, he is also part of the research team of another FCT project on the Application of Artificial Intelligence Methodologies and Natural Language Processing in the SNS 24 Screening, Counseling, and Routing Service. Jointly with statistical modelling, his current research interests are in the fields of data science, quality control, and survival analysis.
