Information

Dr. Chen-Kuei Chung achieved B.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in 1989 and 1994, respectively. From 1994 to 2002, he worked at the Industrial Technology Research Institute to further technology research and development, including the process development and integration of MEMS technologies and key components such as inkjet printheads, IR sensor arrays, and biochips. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University (ME/NCKU), in August, 2002, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005, and then to Full Professor in 2009, and then onto Associate Head in 2017. He was awarded the 2018 Distinguished Engineering Professor of CSME, Taiwan. He has published more than 145 international journal papers (2 papers having been selected as front cover images), 6 book chapters, and more than 140 international conference papers, and holds more than 35 patents. Dr. Chung’s research interests are micro-nano material science and engineering, and the fabrication, characterization, and process integration of MEMS/NEMS devices for sensor, actuator, and LIGA applications, especially in advanced hybrid pulse anodization, characterization, SERS, and applications; laser processing, polymer molding, and applications; and mechanical energy harvesting from unique microneedle triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs).
