Information

I am Acting Professor of Botany at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Málaga. Since March 2021 I am Director of the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA, USA). My PhD thesis was on the study of coastal habitats in Andalusia (Spain) and their management model. Since then, I have worked in different research projects related to the management and conservation of coastal species and ecosystems, as well as in the restoration of burned areas. Currently, my research focuses on three main lines: the use of vegetation as a tool for land management, the effects of climate change on vegetation and the conservation of protected species and habitat on the Spanish coast. I have published some outstanding contributions to the syntaxonomy of coastal vegetation, high mountain vegetation, ultramafic -serpentine- vegetation, applications of phytosociology and strictly phytosociological and geobotanical studies.
