Information

EXPERTISE In BIOLOGICAL INVASIONS and CONSERVATION of the native diversity of continental aquatic mollusks, from the disciplinary and educational aspects (part of the prevention of bioinvasions is achieved by educating society). Bioinvasions cause impacts in both environments: Human (e.g. golden mussel clogging pipes and filters -macrofouling- of water intakes for human consumption, industrial refrigeration, energy generating systems, etc.) that cause great economic losses. Natural (e.g. displacement of native species; ecosystem functioning). Since the 1990s, I have developed experience in PREVENTION and CONTROL of biological invasions, generating a research group oriented towards sustainable control of invasive species. Likewise, I have started a CONSERVATION line oriented towards the malacofauna of native continental bivalves, and since 2016 I formed the eMIAS (specialists in Molluscs Introduced in South America: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gustavo-darrigran-a3a71822/?originalSubdomain=ar https://emiasgroup.wixsite.com/emias ; https://blogs.ead.unlp.edu.ar/biodiversidadfahce/
