Dr. José Oscar Lustosa de Oliveira Júnior

Short Biography

Dr. José Oscar Lustosa de Oliveira Júnior is an Agricultural Engineer from the Federal University of Paraíba (1990), with a Master's degree (1993) and a Doctorate (2000) in Agronomy/Phytotechnics from the Federal University of Ceará. He completed a Post-Doctorate in the area of Seed Physiology at the National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation, Agricultural Research Service, United States Department of Agriculture in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA (2011/2012). He started at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, Roraima in 1997, and since 2004, he has been working at EMBRAPA Meio-Norte, Teresina, PI, Brazil. In the area of administration, he served as manager of the following areas, Deputy Head of Communication and Business (2006–2008), Deputy Head of Administration and Finance (2013–2016), Deputy Head of Technology Transfer (2016–2018), Deputy Head of Administration and Finance (2018–2021), and Interim Chief General (May to August 2021). He has coordinated projects in the lines of research in Agronomy Management and Cultural Treatments, on the following topics: production systems for annual crops and cassava, physiological quality of seeds, and biological nitrogen fixation. Currently, he is developing research activities in Integrated Production Systems.
