Philippe Knauth has been a Professor of Materials Chemistry at Aix Marseille University (AMU) since 1999. He was a post-doctoral fellow (CNRS, Centre de Thermodynamique et de Microcalorimétrie)  from 1987 to 1989, a laboratory head (Bayer, Pigments and Ceramics Division) from 1989 to 1990, and a CNRS researcher (“Chargé de Recherche“) from 1990 to 1999. He obtained a Diploma in Chemistry (Dipl.-Chem., Saarland University) in 1984, a PhD in Physical Chemistry (Dr. rer. nat., Saarland University) in 1987, and a Habilitation in Materials Science (Aix Marseille University) in 1996. He obtained the CNRS Bronze Medal in 1994, a Silver Medal from Warsaw University of Technology in 2015, the Grand Prize SCF-PACA/SCI Liguria/Piemonte in 2021, and has been a Fellow of the French Chemical Society since 2018.
