The sound of milk frothing, espresso beans being freshly ground and the hustle and bustle of baristas doing their magic to churn out the mystical and amazing beverages we craved. In my world travels I have tasted and experienced many different beverages and witnessed the social aspect of drinking whether it be bars serving alcohol or a café serving coffee and tea. I have also witnessed a company trying to blur the line by serving both alcohol and coffee, but it hasn’t seemed to work well. I will attempt to convince you coffee is quickly becoming the social drink of choice because it is not only non-alcoholic, it can be enjoyed anywhere, is good for you, keeps you alert, and can be served in a thousand different ways. Coffee is what Americans crave daily and is the new and improved social beverage in nearly every corner of the globe.

Mental Illness was a topic not often discussed in those days, but none the less it needs to be mentioned. Miss Emily would have benefitted greatly from the help of a mental health professional. Her isolationism and depression are what led to her death. She would have gone on living a while longer quite possibly a much healthier woman had she been given professional psychiatric care. No doubt it would have been difficult to get her there without kicking and screaming, but she would have exited a different woman.

This paper will discuss the details and determination of these brutal six months, and the victory to follow. George Washington, the father of our nation led them thru this, and led them to victory. It was not without loss. It was not without sacrifice. It was heroism. It was American.
These brave men, starving and near naked to the point of losing limbs were steadfast and strong.
General George Washington their leader was well respected by the men, and earned it. This time they endured led to a season of restoration, and eventual victory.

The Vietnam War was a political, domestic and military disaster. Meanwhile, troop levels peaked in 1968 where 536,100 of our young men honorably served their country patrolling the jungles and rice fields of Vietnam. Fifty-Eight thousand shed their crimson red blood giving their lives for a very controversial cause. A cause still being discussed today. President Lyndon Johnson’s inability to negotiate an effective strategy combined with political agendas prioritized above Vietnam caused the inability to conquer communism.

Sears made a deal with a guy for some gold watches in need of repair for fifty dollars. Several business partners and a mail order catalog later they began building a retail empire which would grow to 4,000 retail stores even into Mexico. This is a corporation that did not properly forecast the transitions of the dot.com boom and Wal-Mart retail takeover. If they had foreseen this tremendous change it would potentially still be a competitor in the retail market, but instead have spiraled downward into retail downfall.

The clashing of political interests and aspirations between the two countries, along with the American support of the Nationalist party prevented diplomacy between them. In addition, Mao’s political agenda, and his own vision for China had no mention of the United States. The United States had a complicated history with China. Washington could not seem to come up with a foreign policy for China that was worth the paper is was printed on until Nixon took office. I conclude and agree with the author in stating the United States dissolved any chance at diplomacy between the U.S. and the C.C.P.

However, the haunting reality is these are events which happened, and their story needed to be told. Browning had extraordinary access to rare documentation and letters written by members of the Reserve Police Battalion 101 which brought the reality needed to illustrate the events discussed. He was given access to the German archives to research and gather the material required to bring these atrocities back to life. It gives the reader the tremendous realities in actual number value. One of the letters lists in detail the number of Jews killed by date which many days was over a thousand. The beginning discusses the recruitment of the Reserve Police Battalion 101. Their ages, (mostly middle aged) although they were recruited by age group. The type of citizen recruited which was much more relaxed than the SS meaning they could have had a Polish or Jewish Grandparent until requirements changed in 1942. They were merely there to keep order, round up Jews and kill them. The chapter and details presented in the transportation of Jews is quite outstanding. The sheer number of Jews killed is terrifying. The conditions they were forced to be transported and housed under was inhumane. There were up to 200 Jews per train car alone. Twenty-Five percent of Jews transported died due to the horrible conditions such as lack of oxygen, smell of rotting flesh, disease and tremendous heat. Some tried to escape using desperate measures. The weight of the cars kept the trains from traveling very fast despite the Germans best efforts. Browning captures all of this tragic history beautifully. These men used as order Police were not trained killers. They were ordinary men. He brings insight to the readers regarding the fact that not all these men were willing to kill. Some became numb and some did it out of necessity or fear of death. Some did it due to being ordered but did not consider it a career. A couple of soldiers had careers to go home to once the war ended. Even some of the leaders
