HKUST Engineering Researchers Develop Innovative Method to Simplify Manufacturing Process of Cellular Ceramic
Prof. YANG Zhengbao’s research team has developed an innovative method that overcomes the limitations of traditional additive manufacturing (3D printing), significantly simplifying and accelerating the production of geometrically complex cellular ceramics.
Prof. Zhang Xiangru discovers an effective and rapidly degradable disinfectant. Using the instrument known as “ultra-performance liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC/ESI-tqMS)”, he successfully detects the degradation products of 2,6-DCQ and determines the degradation pathway of 2,6-DCQ in seawater.
HKUST Engineering Researchers Discover an Effective and Environment-Friendly Disinfectant
Prof. ZHANG Xiangru’s research team has discovered a promising alternative known as 2,6-dichlorobenzoquinone (2,6-DCQ), which works more effectively in combating certain common bacteria, fungi and viruses, and can be rapidly degraded and detoxified in receiving waters.

HKUST Engineering Researchers Develop Groundbreaking Platform for One-Step Production of Sperm-Like Micro-Robots to Enhance Precise Drug Delivery
The research team led by Prof. SHEN Yajing and Dr. YANG Xiong has developed an innovative magnetic actuation platform that enables the one-step formation of sperm-like “micro-robots”, demonstrating excellent motility and efficient performance in precise drug delivery.

The research team led by Prof. SUN Qingping and Prof. YAO Shuhuai has developed a multi-material cascading elastocaloric cooling device made of nickel-titanium (NiTi) shape memory alloys and broke the world record in its cooling performance.
