DJ Mitsuru（鬼柳満）, New star with a long career in Hokkaido

When I was checking the list of Mixcloud SELECT which enables fans to support DJs directly, I found a Japanese name and photo among world famous DJs like Afrojack and radios. That's DJ Mitsuru, Mitsuru Oniyanagi. His mixes are crisp like sea breeze and a little sentimental like summer memories.
MixcloudでDJを直接支援できるMixcloud SELECT、Afrojackや海外の有名ラジオ局の名前が並ぶ中に、日本人らしき名前と写真を見つけた。それがDJ Mitsuru（鬼柳満）氏だった。彼のDJミックスはsea breezeのように軽やかで、夏の思い出のように少しせつない。I dared to contact him. He willingly answered my questions.
DJのマネタライズのエントリーを書いてからずっと気になっていて、思い切ってコンタクトしてみたところ、快くいくつかの質問に答えて下さった。

Q1. You upload mixes of Soulful House, Afro House and Deep House. Have you been playing House music mainly?
A1. I have started DJ in about 1987. I used to play DJ in Sapporo and Asahikawa. I have been playing House music ever since then.
Q1. Soulful House、Afro House、Deep Houseのミックスを数多くMixcloudにアップロードされていますが、ずっとHouseを中心にプレイされてきたのですか？
A1. 僕が DJを始めたのは1987年ごろです。札幌、旭川などでプレイしてました。ハウスはその頃からプレイしてます。

Q2. DJ Mitsuru is acclaimed by those outside Japan. You have many fans. I suppose that there are gaps and time lags in music trends between Japan and other foreign countries. How do you dig and select tunes?
A2. Many people outside Japan listen to my mix definitely. I appreciate them. I basically select my favorite tunes and cover tunes.
Q2. DJ MitsuruさんのDJは特に海外の方から評価され、たくさんのファンの方がいらっしゃいます。日本と海外のトレンドは異なったり時期がずれたりすると思いますが、どのようにdigや選曲をされているのでしょうか？
A2. 確かに海外の方によく聴いて頂いてます。感謝してます。選曲は基本好きな曲、カバー曲は良く使わせてもらってます。

Q3. Soulful House is not major in Japan and other foreign countries. What do you think Japanese and other countries' music trend?
A3. I have been uploading DJ mixes since 2016. Nobody listened to my mix at the beginning. A DJ discovered my mixes and has been supporting me. House music is recognized outside Japan more than in Japan at present.
Q3. 日本に限らず海外でもSoulful Houseは多数派ではないと思いますが、DJ Mitsuruさんはどのように国内外のトレンドをどのように見ておられますか？
A3. Mixcloudには2016年から投稿してますが、始めのころは全く聴いてもらえませんでした！ある DJに見つけてもらってサポートしていただけるようになりました。やはり現時点では日本より海外の方がハウスの認知度はあるのかなと感じてます。

Q4. What's a good point of your DJ? Do you have any obsession in your DJ? (music selection/orders/transitions)
A4. I obsess with transitions. My feature of DJ is good mood through a whole my mix. I have never been completely satisfied with my DJ mix yet. lol
Q4. DJ MitsuruさんのDJの聴きどころ、こだわりをお伺いしてもよいですか？選曲、曲順、繋ぎ方等。
A4. 繋ぎにはこだわりがあります。1番は全体の雰囲気ですね。未だに自分自身100点をつけれるMIXは作れてません（笑）

Q5. Who influenced your DJ? Which DJ do you respect?
A5. These are Timmy Regisford and Black Coffee though my DJ style is quite different from them.
Q5. 影響を受けたDJ、尊敬するDJはいますか？
A5. まったくスタイルは違いますが、Timmy Regisford、Black Coffeeです。

Q6. Do you play DJ in a Japanese nightclub?
A6. I'm a office worker and a dayoff in week day, so I don't have a chance to play there.
Q6. 日本のクラブでもプレイされているのですか？
A6. 会社員で平日休みなので、なかなか機会がありません。

Q7. Where do you live in?
A7. Now I live in Nayori in Hokkaido, Japan.
Q7. お住まいは日本のどの地域ですか？
A7. 現在は北海道名寄市に住んでます。

Q8. You broadcast your DJ play at your home. Why did you start to broadcast?
A8. I don't play DJ in a nightclub. It might be desire to be watched by audiences. lol
Q8. ご自宅でのDJの様子を配信されていますが、配信を始められたきっかけがあるのでしょうか？
A8. 現場でプレイする機会がないからでしょうか、見てもらいたい願望かな（笑）

Q9. What do you think about Japanese and local nightclub scene?
A9. Many old disco parties are held in Hokkaido. I wish people listen to Soulful House a lot.
Q9. 日本のクラブシーン、地方のクラブについてどのように見ておられますか？
A9. 北海道は特に昔のディスコイベントが多いです。ソウルフルハウスなど聴いていただきたいですねー。

Q10. What do you want to challenge after this?
A10. I would like to popularize House music even a little though it's not easy because of living in the provinces.
Q10. 今後チャレンジしたいことはありますか？
A10. 田舎にいると難しいですが、少しでもハウスミュージックを広めていきたいと思ってます。

I supposed that DJ Mitsuru would answer "I want to play DJ in international festival." . But his desire is not his own success but popularization of House music that he loves. His pure passion for House music might reflect on his DJ mixes and attract music lovers. Enjoy his mixes at the end of summer.
DJ Mitsuruさんは国際的なフェスでDJしたいと回答されるんだろうと思っていた。けれど、DJ Mitsuruさんの望みはHouse音楽の普及でご自身の成功ではなかった。DJ MitsuruさんのHouse音楽に対する純粋な熱意は、彼のDJに反映されていて、それが人々を魅了するのかもしれない。夏の終わりに彼のミックスを楽しんで。
