Although fatigue measurement is a major input to any solution that targets reduction of fatigue adverse influences on aviation operations, yet there is a critical lack of evidence on what optimum sets of fatigue measurement strategies could be applied given the vast organisational and operational differences between various industry players. The current study utilises the published aviation safety literature, the Technology Acceptance Model and expert opinion to propose a new multi-criteria decision model, called Aviation Fatigue Measurement Selection Model, to decide on what fatigue measurement methods are most suitable for each aviation operator. The model addresses the validity, user acceptance, cost, and other limitations of each currently acknowledged fatigue measurement method. The model was then applied through comprehensive scenario-based simulations and was found to be sensitive to changes in user preferences and valid.

A sample of 120 volunteering workers (age range of 22–35 years), from a large construction company with a workforce of 4000 workers, participated in this study. The performance of 60 of the participants was measured using the Deary-Liewald paradigm on simple, choice response time tasks during different periods of the day in Summer (July and August of 2019) and Winter (December of 2019 and January of 2020). Then the same was repeated by another 60 participants in Winter and performance results were compared as a way to record the effects of ambient temperature on the workers' performance. Detailed accident statistics were also collected for one year for the whole company where accident severity was determined using the Abbreviated Injury Severity Scale (AIS). Results showed that the performance of participants on both tasks was significantly lower in Summer due mainly to high ambient temperature as compared to Winter knowing that participants did similar tasks all over the year. Results also indicated that accidents showed a clear trend of increase during the hot months of Summer. Recommendations based on the results are given in the end.

In addition, Organizational culture is one of the most important factors to focus on to facilitate the implementation of Lean within Saudi Arabian manufacturing. Thus, more research that focuses on Lean implementation in SMEs are needed. This article focuses on contributing to develop a framework to improve Lean Implementation into small and medium enterprise manufacturing organisations in Saudi Arabia by leveraging aspects of Organizational Culture. Qualitative research is confirmed to be useful for uncovering such insider views. The thesis will be based on qualitative and grounded theory inside action research with and an inductive approach. Action research tends to be used for prompting conscious change within a somewhat controlled environment. The data collection general...

The demanding nature of the pressing work schedules may have physiological, psychological, or other mental impacts on the workforce. Hence, it’s necessary to study the association between the shift work and stress, sleep quality, and cognitive performance within the workforce. Data were obtained from 307 participants working in Sharjah Police. In this study, stress was assessed using 22 items from Spielberger Police Stress Survey, respondents indicated the level of perceived stress on a 5-point Likert scale during a three months period. The sleep quality was assessed using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) through a questionnaire that included 12 items, where respondents were required to indicate the hours of their daily sleep during the three months period and rate the extent to which a number of different factors affected their sleep on a 4-point Likert sca...
