JSEALS HOSTING INSTITUTION
Since the beginning of 2017, JSEALS has been published under the hosting of the University of Hawai'i Press and posted on the JSEALS page of the UH Press website. All editions from 10.1 on are available at that site, and links are provided in this site as well, including Special Publications. JSEALS continues to be a free open-access journal, and the overall blind-review process and editorial board structure remain unchanged.
THE SCOPE OF JSEALS
JSEALS is the peer-reviewed open-access electronic Journal of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society, devoted to publishing research on the languages of mainland and insular Southeast Asia. Covering a region of extraordinary linguistic diversity, JSEALS features papers on the languages of Southeast Asia, including Austroasiatic, Austronesian, Hmong-Mien, Tibeto-Burman and Tai-Kadai. JSEALS welcomes contributions written in English that deal with general and applied linguistic issues (as opposed to cultural or anthropological topics, and not acquisition or teaching methodology) which further the lively debate that characterizes the annual SEALS conferences since 1991.
JSEALS TOPICS
Topics may include descriptive, theoretical, or historical linguistics, dialectology, sociolinguistics, anthropological linguistics, and applied linguistics (e.g., language planning and policy, orthography development and testing, literacy development, etc. (but not pedagogy or acquisition)), among other areas of linguistics of languages of Southeast Asia. JSEALS also admits data papers, reports, and notes, subject to an internal review process.
ARTICLE SUBMISSIONS
Submission is open to all, regardless of participation in SEALS meetings. Each original article undergoes double-blind review by at least two scholars, usually a member of the Advisory Board and one or more independent referees. There is no fee for publishing in JSEALS, and JSEALS articles are published as Open Access works. We are grateful for reviewers' voluntary assistance in ensuring the quality of our publications. If you have any queries about submitting your article, please send an email to sealsandjseals@gmail.com.
SUPPORT SEALS & JSEALS: MAKE A DONATION
SEALS is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization in the USA, and as such is open to receive tax-deductible donations from US taxpayers and corporations. As a not-for-profit organization, SEALS relies upon funding from conference registration fees and additional support from hosting institutions. Donations will facilitate future conferences (keeping registration fees low, especially helping students to participate) and provide honoraria to reviewers of the JSEALS journal (a free Open-Access SCOPUS-indexed journal). Please send an email to sealsandjseals@gmail.com to ask how you can donate.
