I am working today as a professional translator and I am very interested in the academic life.In 2012 I presented a doctoral thesis in Language Sciences on the lexical particularities of the variety of French from the American and Caribbean area, at the University of Paris IV (now Sorbonne Université) within the Research Team Linguistique et lexicographie latine et romane. My fields of interest are the francophone differential Lexicology and Lexicography and the language of the regional francophone writers (idiolectal aspects, neologisms). Until now, I published more articles about these topics. Recently, I began to be interested in Traductology and the study of the Languages for Specific Purposes and I think I will explore these fields further in the next years.

The two novels written by Ernest Pepin repre-sent a good corpus to illustrate the lexical productivity of the variety of French from the Lesser Antilles and its multiple possibilities of expression. The best represented semantic fields are: food, music, flora, fauna and spiritual life. At the formal level, the compounding is the most productive type of word formation. At the seman-tic level, some phenomena of semantic restriction and extension, and the building of new meanings by metaphor and metonymy among others can be observed. The lexical analysis of the regionalisms in a literary corpus raises many methodological problems (making the distinction between regionalisms and idiolectal phenomena, rebuilding the history of the words, ethical problems, difficulties related to lexicographic tools and tech-niques, working with disparate and ambiguous data). Our doctoral thesis could be a step forward towards a complex dictionary of the variety of French in the Lesser Antilles, but a lot of ideas are for the moment still on drawing board and the researches should continue in this direction.

Une attention particulière sera accordée aux particularités lexicales et aux sources de l’expressivité. Cet événement sportif peut être exploité de multiples façons du point de vue didactique. Il faudra intégrer dans une recherche future les données obtenues de la comparaison entre les glossaires de mots spécifiques à diverses branches sportives et les matériaux audio-visuels présents sur la plate-forme YouTube.

TheAmerindian loan words, even much lessnumerous by comparison with the Creoleloan words, are an unquestionable sourcefor the lexical richness of the French fromthe West Indies. Refering to trees, plants, exotic fruits, objects for domestic use ortraditional meals, these words having anIndigenous origin offer the possibility torecover a part of the cultural inheritance ofthe Amerindians who nowadays don't existanymore.

Este artículo se propone analizar algunos neologismos encontrados en la novela Tambour-Babel (1996) del escritor antillano Ernest Pépin. La composición y la derivación son los procedimientos que se emplean más a menudo en la creación de estas lexías.
