Both projects reflect Bruguera's notion of arte util ('Useful Art') - her belief artists must act as useful agents of change by addressing social needs. Although operating in very different contexts, this talk examine how both projects reveal the various ways art can be 'useful' and operate critically as a form of grassroots political activism.
