Rebecca Groves
Rebecca Groves is a nonprofit executive, curator, performance scholar, and dramaturg.
Rebecca served as Chief Operating Officer at The Nocturnists, an award-winning medical storytelling show and podcast based in San Francisco. Previously, she planned and executed the artistic program at the McEvoy Foundation for the Arts in San Francisco and provided curatorial development and exhibition production at the Kramlich Collection – one of the world's foremost collections of contemporary new media art. She collaborated with choreographer William Forsythe from 2001-2007, first as German Chancellor Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, then as Head Dramaturg at Ballett Frankfurt, and ultimately as Executive Director of the Forsythe Foundation in New York. She trained in the Ph.D. programs in theater and performance studies at Columbia and Stanford Universities.
Rebecca's academic research and art criticism have been published by Palgrave, the Institute of Contemporary Arts Boston, Dance Research Journal, Modern Drama, and New England Theatre Journal, among others. She has taught courses on Contemporary European Performance and Acting at Stanford and given invited lectures and conference papers at the San Francisco Ballet, l’Université Paris-Sorbonne, Freie Universität Berlin, University of Roehampton London, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, and elsewhere.
