明治5年(1872年)創業、伊豆修善寺温泉を代表する老舗旅館。
多くの文人墨客が訪れた登録文化財の建物は、いろいろな映画、ドラマ、CMのロケ地にもなっているそうです。
(最近ではサントリーオールフリーコラーゲン。桂川と対岸の竹林の小径が眺められる「花の棟」や「渡りの橋」が登場します)
登録文化財ガイドツアー(約40分、宿泊客は500円)に参加すると、建物や文人墨客の滞在時のエピソードなどを詳しく案内してもらえるので、早めのチェックインをおすすめいたします。
大きな錦鯉が優雅に泳ぐ池と歴史ある木造建築が一体となった旅館全体の雰囲気がとにかく素敵♪
池の鯉が見える大浴場2か所は時間で男女が入れ替わり、どちらもレトロで女性にはお世辞にも快適とは言えませんが、2014年12月にリニューアルされた貸切風呂はとってもよかった!
夕食は月替わりの会席コース。グループで2部屋にわかれて泊まったので、食事会場は明治41年築の霞の棟七号室というお部屋でいただきました。

献立書に記載されたこのほか、はじめにお宿からのサービスというシラウオと、最後は部屋食の場合は夜食としてだされるようかんがきました。
山葵はその場でおろして、たっぷりといただけます。
汗をふきながら一品ずつ運んでくれる仲居さんは、なかなかフレンドリーで楽しい方でした。
季節を感じるお出汁のきいた会席コースは、さすが老舗旅館ですね。最後まで美味しくいただきました。
朝食も三段のお重に上品なおかずが並んで、大満足♪
夏場にもかかわらず、白いご飯がとても美味しうございました。
いつかまた、季節をかえて訪れたい名旅館でした。ごちそうさまでした。
