I Ate Like Katie Ledecky For A Day And Here's How It Went

Tasty producer, Joelle (@joelleolol), is diving into a new daily routine trying to eat like Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky for 24 hours! Packed with lots of protein, fruits, and veggies, this is definitely a gold medal way to eat for a day.

I set out to discover what fuels Olympians in their day-to-day lives, and answer some burning questions: do they eat like a ton of protein? Do they feast on superfoods? What is their secret sauce for being a "super human"?

After eating like Simone Biles for 24 hours, I decided to try eating like Katie Ledecky, seven-time Olympic gold medalists in swimming, and the most decorated female swimmer in history. Here's what Katie eats on an average day, according to her interview with Women's Health magazine:

Breakfast

Katie starts her day off strong with a bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and banana. Sometimes she adds in other fruits like blueberries. This hearty breakfast of champions keeps her fueled for her morning of workouts and training!

Post-Workout Snack

Katie grew up drinking chocolate milk after her swim meets. As an adult, Katie opts for the next best thing: a chocolate protein shake.

Lunch

Katie typically eats an early lunch after swimming that consist of toast with eggs and a veggie combination on top. The topping could consist of greens, avocado, or whatever she is feeling that day.

Snack

Granola FTW!! Katie is a huge granola fan, like myself, so her fav mid-day snack is a yogurt parfait with fruit, and lots of granola, of course.

Dinner

Katie switches it up for dinner, depending on how she is feeling that day. But her food groups consist of a good balance of protein, like steak, chicken or salmon, with a grain and lots of veggies.

Dessert

You can't forget a sweet treat at the end of a hard day of being an athlete! Katie apparently loves banana bread, and let's be honest, who doesn't?
