This article seeks to show that a chiastic structure, previously undetected in modern scholarship... more This article seeks to show that a chiastic structure, previously undetected in modern scholarship, exists in Matthew 16:13-18:20. By examining chiastic markers, namely key terminology, a case is built for the existence of the chiastic structure in the aforementioned verses and the significant implications of the existence of this literary structure are explored. The existence of this chiastic structure offers significant literary and exegetical insight into this passage and the surrounding context. In addition, the Mat-thew 16:13-18:20 chiasm has important theological implications, especially in the area of ecclesiology.
