Frantisek Jakab

Assoc. prof. Dr. Frantisek Jakab, Director of the University Science Park Technicom (UVP TECHNICOM, www.uvptechnicom.sk) at the Technical University of Kosice (TUKE) since 2017. I have been coordinated important educational initiatives and projects linked to cooperation with practice, e.g. National Project of Modernization of the educational process at the Primary and Secondary schools in Slovakia, international projects in the Leonardo, Tempus, the European Commission Framework Programmes, including the „eSkills week“ well known activity in Slovakia. I am an initiator and coordinator of the project testing IT skills in Slovakia called „FITNESS TEST IT“ since 2010. I was at the birth of a global educational initiative Cisco Networking Academy in Slovakia where I worked as AAM for SR since 1999 (network of more than 70 high schools and universities, through which over 35,000 students have been educated in Slovakia so far since 1999). For long time I am actively involved in mutual cooperation of academia with industry, in building innovation centers, centers of excellent research, science parks and startups. Therefore, I initiated an establishment of the TUKE Startup Center. Since 2007 I has been appointed a Chief of the collaboration between academia and industry at the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic and a Head of the Application Section of the Forum for Communication Technologies. In 2006 he was awarded a prestigious award "IT Personality of the Year" in Slovakia. In 2010 he was awarded an annual award from the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia in the development of cooperation between academia and industry in the Slovak Republic. He is a Chair of the Sectoral Council for the ITaT in Slovakia. He has participated in the establishment of the association Kosice IT Valley, where he was active as a board member since it has been founded.Frantisek Jakab is behind the success of the Computer networks laboratory (www.cnl.sk) that he helped to create during his career at the Department of Computers and Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at the TUKE. Nowadays, this laboratory manages one of the top workplaces devoted to an advanced network technologies.Frantisek Jakab has graduated from the Faculty of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the St. Petersburg Institute of teh Electrical Engineering in the field of System Engineering (Russian Federation) and he has attended several study stays abroad (St. Petersburg, London, Birmingham). He is renowned author of more than 150 scientific publications and textbooks.
