The Traitors Recap: Zac Efron Catches Strays in One Nasty, Drama-Fueled Roundtable
The Traitors are plotting another Scottish funeral, but whose coffin is about to be buried alongside poor Ekin-Su? (Cue the Phaedra gifs!)
What does that have to do with innocent bystander Zac Efron? Read on for all the deets!
When we last left the villainous foursome of Boston Rob, Danielle, Carolyn and Bob the Drag Queen, they were meeting in secret to choose three players to shortlist for their next murder. When Alan calls the entire group outside at nighttime, they find three open caskets. The ever-so-dazzling host announces the unlucky Faithfuls: Jeremy, Nikki and Ciara. As part of his last words, Jeremy promises the Traitors that if they keep him, he’ll work with them. (Taking a page out of Sandra’s “Traitor angels” book, are we?) With that, Alan sends the rest of the group to bed, as the Traitors meet outside to spill some blood.
DEAD MAN WALKING | At breakfast, all is revealed. Even though Gabby mentions hearing Danielle’s voice from that dark and secret room, no one else thinks Dani is one of the hooded villains. (Heh.) The group is pretty convinced that one of the three that was placed inside the caskets is a traitor, though. So while suspicion soon falls on Ciara and Nikki, it’s Jeremy that has been murrrr-dered.
Carolyn did not want to off her fellow Survivor player, and the fact that none of the other Traitors are listening to her or valuing her opinion is absolutely going to come into play later this season. For anyone who watched Survivor 44, you know Carolyn’s no dummy and she 100% has what it takes to get to the end. But can she seek revenge on Danielle, Rob and Bob without being sussed out?
During the mission, Bob the Drag Queen speaks out of turn, saying that one of the “new guys” (referring to Rob, Wes and Derrick) is probably a Traitor. That understandably rubs Rob the wrong way, but is it time to give the Faithfuls some blood? B.R. thinks so, but he doesn’t want to battle Bob publicly because he doesn’t want to lose Carolyn and Danielle’s trust. So Rob starts doing what Rob does every. single. time. he plays these games. He secretly starts working his magic (or should we say, his mist?), having small side conversations with everyone and throwing Bob under the bus. But when Rob tells Danielle and Carolyn about this plan “he’s hearing,” Danielle ain’t having it! She wants Nikki out this time and Ciara after that. (After years of watching Rob pull the same old, same old, I’d rather see him not get his way. But hey, that’s just me!)
ROUNDTABLE | Despite not wanting to take his ploy public, Boston Rob just can’t help himself. After Nikki takes some heat from Wes, Rob calls out Bob the Drag Queen’s habit of deflecting, which causes the drag queen’s mouth to drop wide open. With that, the match is lit for the season’s most fiery roundtable yet! Bob swears to God that he’s a Faithful, but Rob counters, saying that Bob has spearheaded every single vote and they’ve all been wrong. Bob tells the group that everything Rob is placing on him could also be said about Rob’s game.
Dylan begins to praise Bob’s great acting, but when he mentions growing up with an actor (his famous brother Zac), Bob chimes in with a well-timed and very petty: “Not a good one.” What, no love for High School Musical, Bob!? (And this is why The Traitors should continue casting queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, please and thank you. I am seated. I am here for it. I am thoroughly entertained.)
There’s a lot of barking back and forth until Alan finally calls for silence. When the votes start rolling in, Danielle finds herself caught between a rock and a hard place. However, she begrudgingly writes down her ally Bob’s name. (Carolyn does as well, but what choice did the women have, really?) Even though Ciara and Nikki catch some of the votes, Bob the Drag Queen is banished from the game after that hellish Traitor-on-Traitor violence. But whether or not Rob has officially lost the trust of his fellow Traitors remains to be seen.
Who were you rooting for in this melee, Boston Rob or Bob the Drag Queen? Drop all of your thoughts in the comments below!
Zach Efron is not on the show. It’s his brother Dylan.
They know that. But Bob made a comment about him to Dylan. Dylan mentioned growing up with an actor and Bob said “Not a good one.”
Maybe read the full article before commenting ;)
Sucks to lose Jeremy so early. And even though the roundtable was EPIC, I wish Rob hadn’t sold Bob out so early in the game. I get Bob threw him under the bus, but with there being 2 others guys, I don’t think most of the players would have looked Rob’s way yet. How do the other 2 Traitors not be worried that Rob will do to them what he did to Bob? And how does Rob not fear that they’ll want to get him out before he gets them?
The problem is that there was no need for Bob to make the comment. It was just in random conversation. So if he is willing to do that then, then he is a loose cannon and a risk. You never want to be part of a targeted clique (ex: housewives). If they started targeting new guys, Rob has a one in three shot of it being him. If he successfully removes a traitor it can take the heat off of him and he becomes a hero…for now.
On a side-note- I thought it was Carolyn who was spotted coming out of the bookcase and not Danielle.
The problem isn’t Bob making the comment. The problem is that every faithful in that game should be making the same comment and they are not. Bob was trying to correctly look pro-Faithful and traitor hunt (as all Traitors AND Faithfuls should), and the three late entries to the game, ESPECIALLY Boston Rob, should be looked at closely. The fact that none of the town has voiced a single iota of suspicion (that we have seen on TV) at those three is ridiculously bad.
I can’t believe Bob got Jimboed!
I had a feeling Bob would be the first traitor to go, but I didn’t think Rob would be the one to throw him under the bus so soon. As much as I love Bob, he was doing too much. I’ll miss his humor and his fashion.
Rob does what Rob does and I agree that Bob was thoroughly entertaining. I hope Dani and Carolyn work together against Rob or he will eventually come after them.
I was confused though – wasn’t Bob one of those shielded from murder because of the mission? I thought his statue was complete but maybe I missed something. (I can’t believe I just typed that sentence, this show is epic! LOL)
The shield protects you from murder by the traitors. There is no protection from the roundtable vote.
Duh. Thanks, makes sense!
This Traitor battle that’s coming between Rob and Danielle is going to be very fun to watch. And if Wes is suspicious of Rob, it’s definitely going to get crazy. I’m invested and hooked!!
I’m enjoying the current series of Traitors UK a heck of a lot more than this season of Traitors US. I don’t understand why we get a bunch of already over-exposed reality TV stars with already established relationships versus gen pop? Their dynamic isn’t honest as they are playing to their TV personas and they are intimately already familiar with TV gameplay.
The UK has it right. Put a bunch of strangers in the castle together and see them develop their relationships and alliances naturally.
The US version is just another great example of the dumbing down of America.
I agree. I actually liked the first season with the mix between the two. US media takes the easy way out and depends on the expected built in audience.
Having an all celebrity cast is what draws viewers this is why the US show is getting Emmy’s and awards. They breaking ratings records. You don’t hear that from the UK version and it’s because they don’t have big names to draw that in. Peacock rather be making lots of money than mediocre amount of money and having all celebrities as the cast is what is making that happen for them.
The UK version is a huge hit over there. The season 3 premiere had 9 million viewers.
The UK show is the second-most watched show in the UK right now. It’s outperforming the US show by a huge margin.
You’re right. I subscribed to Peacock only to watch The Traitors, and only because Tony and Boston Rob were cast.
Make sure to watch both seasons of Australia—they are the best seasons of all The Traitors shows.
The only way to be 100% that someone is a Traitor is to be a Traitor !
Rob Is doomed (Wes)
Rob will be next. He might have taken Bob out but that now puts a target on his back because how did he know 100 percent without hesitation that it was him. Because he’s a traitor, I’m glad Wes is on to him and Danielle is pissed and it will be smart for her and Carylon to link up and take him down because Rob will be coming for them next. He will betray them to be the only one with money at the end. Plus everyone needs to look at Rob, he is one of three new players you know one of those three players would come in as a traitor. People need to think smart and look at who threw Bob name out there and went hard for him. Dylan is smart but not smart enough because he thinks Rob is a god now but baby you can’t figure out he’s a traitor and obviously was taking another traitor out.
Can you imagine how the conversation in the turret would have gone if Boston Rob was not successful in getting Bob the Drag Queen banished that night? Rob better be glad Bob got the votes to leave.
I actually got excited when people started voting for Ciara and there was a little bit of hope that Bob might survive
Robin is as clueless as when she was on HW. She so quickly dismissed the possibility of Danielle being a traitor with strong evidence that should have been sussed out, saying that Danielle gets so emotional. She has no gamer skills in her.
