Design/methodology/approach A study of a sample of several SOFOMES is carried out through representative surveys and focus groups to collect information to develop a causal model of risk management under a Bayesian network approach together with a Monte Carlo simulation. Findings The probability that SOFOMES has a high incidence to be used as a mean of money laundering is 29.3%, correspondingly with a probability of 33.1% of having medium incidence and 37.4% of low incidence. Research limitations/implications Only nine SOFOMES were willing to provide information for this study. To maintain the effectiveness of these biological products it is necessary to keep them at temperatures between 2° C and 8° C. Thermoelectric chillers are solid-state devices that convert electrical energy into thermal energy, although these systems are designed for small cooling capacities, from 2 to 250 Watts, they are optimal for cooling portable systems. This paper describes the design, analysis and energy evaluation of a portable system for the transfer of vaccines in rural areas, which will be powered by solar energy. The design integrates the choice of thermal insulation, geometry, capacity and interior arrangement of the container. The energy analysis is carried out based on the modeling and simulation using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) of the system. The results show the temperature distribution within the refrigerated device, as well as the most appropriate arrangement for its implementation; the type of thermoelectric cell recommended to maintain vaccines at the optimum storage temperature and the capacity of the photovoltaic panel for the required energy. Based on the results, the energy evaluation that shows the viability of the system is carried out.

Under this framework, the products to be manufactured advance from station to station to receive a physical–chemical transformation that adds value as they progress in the process. The existence of decoupling buffers between operations (between two consecutive workstations) is a common practice in order to alleviate the pressure that is ahead due to the lack of synchronization between consecutive operations, which causes leisure and/or bottlenecks in the system. In the same model, the optimal calculation of vegetables that can be cultivated in the available land spaces is incorporated considering the same restrictions of water, nutrients, and area available for planting. Both models focus primarily from a deterministic perspective. Subsequently, the randomness of the same is uncovered through the uncertainty in the availability of water. Therefore, the first part of the proposal is made through a simple model of linear mathematical programming. The stochastic model is constructed from a two-phase mathematical programming model. The novelty of the proposal and its contribution consists of illustrating, step by step, the construction and solution of the scenarios of the stochastic model for a problem related to agriculture and animal husbandry.

Recently, substantial amounts of research efforts have been keen on this area, greatly advancing graph-analyzing techniques. In this study, the authors comprehensively review different kinds of deep learning methods applied to graphs. They discuss with existing literature into sub-components of two: graph convolutional networks, graph autoencoders, and recent trends including chemoinformatics research area including molecular fingerprints and drug discovery. They further experiment with variational autoencoder (VAE) analyze how these apply in drug target interaction (DTI) and applications with ephemeral outline on how they assist the drug discovery pipeline and discuss potential research directions.

The problem of hydrothermal coordination is a classic example of nonlinear and large-scale dynami... more The problem of hydrothermal coordination is a classic example of nonlinear and large-scale dynamic mathematical optimization that involves the problem of the economic dispatch plus other constraints associated with the coordination of a pair of systems integrated into a network (i.e., the production of energy from thermoelectric and hydroelectric plants). A large number of methods and models that represent this problem, from classical methods of optimization to modern methods based on metaheuristics, exist. In this chapter, the classic structure of the problem is analyzed and new constraints are proposed, including those based on the level of customer service. Some recent modern formulations of the model are shown, and the existing literature is reviewed showing the modern methods of optimization based on heuristics. The authors illustrate it by optimizing an instance consisting of three thermo plants and three hydro plants through random search and genetic algorithm.

The results are obtained from a random sample of more than one hundred documents published from 1986 to 2018 dedicated to the optimization of FMS. These are classified by their applications in the most significant fields of this area in analytical methods and heuristic methods. The discussion is based on the importance of this branch of engineering in the economic activity of a country and is motivation to continue doing research in it. The analysis also addresses some aspects of computational complexity found in ordinary optimization as well as the most common NP-hard problems of the FMS. The statistical results obtained are presented and the virtual future of the FMS is projected as well as the new challenges and opportunities to venture into this important field of human activity.

El tema del lavado del dinero es de suma importancia, por lo que esta investigación pretende contribuir a la solución de este grave problema. Con la finalidad de apoyar la lucha contra el lavado de dinero y financiamiento del terrorismo, este trabajo propone una metodología que identifique, mida, cuantifique y administre el riesgo de LD y FT. La premisa fundamental es la relación causa efecto entre los distintos factores de riesgo para lo cual se utilizó el modelo de red bayesiana.

This makes it essential for the life of the human being, however, it requires a high demand for energy to operate these systems worldwide, which results in the search for new technology that helps reduce the energy consumption of cooling systems. In this proposal, the operation of an ejector installed in an experimental cooling system is analyzed by CFD. In this study, the ejector is simulated on a two-dimensional geometry, based on experimental results, using R134a as a working fluid and commercial software ANSYS FLUENT 19R1. As a result, the behavior of the velocity vectors was obtained, where there is evidence of recoil in the secondary flow in different operating conditions which leads to an unstable behavior of the experimental system to the imposed operating conditions and an approach in the nozzle outlet primary to the mixing chamber, reduce this behavior.

El lavado de dinero y financiamiento al terrorismo es un riesgo al que están expuestas diferentes... more El lavado de dinero y financiamiento al terrorismo es un riesgo al que están expuestas diferentes entidades; pero principalmente las financieras por la propia naturaleza de su actividad, de manera que especialmente deben y están obligadas a tener una metodología apropiada para analizar y evaluar riesgos. El tema del lavado del dinero es de suma importancia, por lo que esta investigación pretende contribuir a la solución de este grave problema. Con la finalidad de apoyar la lucha contra el lavado de dinero y financiamiento del terrorismo, este trabajo propone una metodología que identifique, mida, cuantifique y administre el riesgo de LD y FT. La premisa fundamental es la relación causa efecto entre los distintos factores de riesgo para lo cual se utilizó el modelo de red bayesiana.

The cooling systems industry is essential in the supply chain of biological products, in the cond... more The cooling systems industry is essential in the supply chain of biological products, in the conditioning of spaces for comfort conditions or in industrial processes. This makes it essential for the life of the human being, however, it requires a high demand for energy to operate these systems worldwide, which results in the search for new technology that helps reduce the energy consumption of cooling systems. In this proposal, the operation of an ejector installed in an experimental cooling system is analyzed by CFD. In this study, the ejector is simulated on a two-dimensional geometry, based on experimental results, using R134a as a working fluid and commercial software ANSYS FLUENT 19R1. As a result, the behavior of the velocity vectors was obtained, where there is evidence of recoil in the secondary flow in different operating conditions which leads to an unstable behavior of the experimental system to the imposed operating conditions and an approach in the nozzle outlet primary to the mixing chamber, reduce this behavior.
