I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the Universidad de Alcalá (Spain) and I work within the Department of Economics. I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics at the European University Institute (EUI, Florence) and my main research interests span from the general theory and measurement of wellbeing to the statics and dynamics of the income distribution, poverty, inequality, the intergenerational transmission of opportunities, gender discrimination in the labour market and fiscal social policy evaluation using microsimulation techniques such as EUROMOD (see JRC). I am a member of the research group on inequality and poverty EQUALITAS, main researcher in WEIPO (Wellbeing, Inequality, Poverty and Public Policy group) and external resercher at ECOSOT and member of the advisory council in IELDE. I currently teach a master course on "Economics of Wellbeing, Inequality and Poverty" in the Master in Applied Economic Analysis (MAEA).

The limited availability of subjective expectations’ surveys to approximate insecurity has made multidimensional insecurity indices that combine subjective and objective dimensions based on living conditions surveys arise as a valuable alternative. We explore differences when using four different methods to aggregate and weigh dimensions when computing a synthetic indicator of economic insecurity using data from the most popular living conditions survey in Europe (EU-SILC) for Spain. We show that the evolution and distribution of the phenomenon is robust to the aggregation procedure, even though insecurity levels differ depending on the method. All procedures present strengths and weaknesses even if a counting approach seems to be most useful because it has a direct and straightforward economic interpretation. This method is also more able to capture insecurity levels in the middle-classes while other aggregation procedures give more relevance to extreme situations.
