Michael Barton
Michael Barton is Research Associate and Sessional Lecturer at the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. His work comprises over 20 years of experience creating digital, material, and hybrid artefacts across diverse industries, including Construction, Interactive and Motion Picture Industries. He holds degrees in Architecture, Environment and Energy Systems, Film and Media Arts. His practical research is focused on applications of emerging technologies in relation to design and manufacturing and their role in creating new human cultures of practice. Michael directs COHO Labs, a research unit which is currently focused on exploring roles for Augmented Reality in construction. His teaching explores the cybernetic intersections of architecture, media, the environment, and society. He is a Principal of Fubalabo Design Corp. an omni-disciplinary design practice based in Vancouver.
