Caroline Bergin Cross
Caroline Bergin-Cross is a current PhD student at the School of Law, University College Dublin. IRC Scholar 2016-2018. Her doctorate concerns the legal issues and liabilities banks encounter when there is a mistaken or misappropriated fund transfer, and the defences banks can raise to claims of unjust enrichment and restitution.
Caroline is the author of "Electronic Fund Transfers in the Republic of Ireland."
Caroline is a Teaching Assistant in Company Law, Negligence and Nominate Torts. Presently, she is the Deputy Editor of the UCD Law Review (Vol 15). She is the Legal Academic Advisor for the UCD Model United Nations Delegation 2014-15, who won outstanding delegation at the NMUN competition at the UN, New York City.
Caroline was the sole researcher and text contributor for the third edition of the text 'Banking Law' by Dr. John Breslin. She has published papers in a number of areas of law, such as, Irish clearing system, Single Euro Payemtns Area Initative, remedies for minority shareholders under s.205 of the Companies Act 1963, law of commercial agents.
Caroline writes banking law articles for the Irish Times and Irish Independent, for example, "Burning the Bondholders or Burning €64billion," "Legal Implcations of Electronic Fund Transfers for consumers."
Caroline is a qualified Barrister. Caroline has a BCL (Honours) from UCD; a LLM (Commercial) from UCD; and Barrister-at-Law degree from the Honourable Society of Kings Inns.
