This contribution relates the theory of cross-border reproductive care with post-modern theories of family life in order to explore which themes, elements and contents are used by intermediary surrogate pregnancy agencies which target Spanish mothers and fathers. The qualitative methodology and the technique of thematic content analysis after registration of the online information collected from the agencies is used. The results show the role of these intermediary agencies in the process of gestation by substitution in Spain, as well as generating knowledge in the area of new family forms constituted by assisted reproduction techniques.

When we approach to the social world, we talk about the existence of as many times as realities, especially in the most subjective dimension, and from there emerge the multiplicity and plurality of times. Paying attention to the question of time in social research, we can reduce these two dimensions we discussed in a functional objectified time and a lived time. The exercise of methodological construction in this sense consists in seeing how we configure each of them. Thus, we establish that functional time can be represented by the duration of the activities that people make, given their quantitative nature and widely used by different countries (and theoretical and methodological positions) to measure the population data. The second, lived time, we build from slow movement speech in the digital social network Twitter and related literature. In this case, the key is not so much the duration of activities, but its tempo; that is, intensity. This is not an exercise of comparing two realities, but about uniting these two coexisting dimensions in the form of indicator, from those frames that reveal historical, analytical or/and scientifically as problematic for the existence of the humanity, for human, social and ecological development. In this way, we can compare with other indicators and add the complex feature of social reality. Keywords: Sociology of time, social aceleration, pace of life, time use, virtual social networks

These measures have been contested by the opposition political parties. This situation has created a climate of tension in the national political debate, which has ended up affecting the quality of public debate. Because of this context, the main objective of this work is to analyze the issues that feed the Spanish political debate in the time frame of the state of alarm, consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. For this, a content analysis of the monitored tweets will be carried out during the entire period of the state of alarm, between March 14 and June 21, 2020. This communication shows the results around the hashtag #covid19. Finally, the results include the design of a map with the most influential actors in this political debate on Twitter.

The latter are represented in this work by the cittaslow movement, which defines a philosophical and theoretical framework on the conception and management of the city that bets on a form of development different from the hegemonic one. This movement also considers how to achieve higher degrees of well-being and quality of life for the populations that live and coexist in them. With the aim of knowing which theoretical and discursive elements both ways of conceiving the city have in common or not, a series of in-depth interviews with stakeholders from cittaslow and a process of documentary comparison between the two have been carried out. The analysis carried out show a relevant degree of compatibility between both ways of thinking about the city, despite its different approaches and focuses. The slow philosophy is shown as a great umbrella for the development of smart, healthy and sustainable cities.

Consolidating towns as healthy territories provides possibilities to visitors, including those seeking long-term stays. Academia plays a prominent role in the consolidation of healthy territories by contributing to methodologies and techniques. The health concept can refer to the different dimensions of a human being’s health: social, political, economic, cultural, biopsychosocial, spiritual and environmental. “Healthy territory” is understood to be the group made up of political and civil authorities, public and private institutions and organisations, businessmen and workers and the community in general, who in their daily lives seek to improve their living, working and cultural conditions. A healthy environment must have infrastructure that generates appropriate conditions for health, through the physical, economic and social regeneration of the...

The main reason for this sociodemographic diagnosis is to have a greater degree of knowledge of social reality in order to face the possible risks of any political or scientific action. Sociodemographic diagnoses become a first-order tool to plan and manage municipal actions, as well as to know the contexts in which actions and decision-making processes will take place. Age and level of studies maintain an inverse relationship, since we see that the highest grades achieved in terms of educational level are concentrated in the young population, or in other words, the population groups with more advanced ages have lower levels of regulated education. The sociodemographic profile of people in unemployment shows that there is a clear correlation between age and unemployment in the municipality; this situation worsens as the population ages.

Citizens shift from being passive subjects to becoming active players in decisions regarding environmental, climatic, demographic, social and economic dimensions of their municipality. The participatory action research method establishes distances with respect to a classic approach from the beginning of the research because the establishment of the demand and the research objectives are the result of a process of triangulation of actors. The citizenship table considers it unlikely that cultural offerings would constitute a municipal strength since the available activities are directed to some but not all population groups. Citizen participation is often incorrectly translated with participation originated from external data, that is, outside citizenry, the use of which is common in generalist surveys. In particular, it emphasized the role of smart cities in the well-being of the people who occupy and live them. That is why special attention is paid to the concept of “city times,” closely related to the lifestyles that take place in any social space, such as the city. And in this context, the potential of this concept as a framework for the design of public policies, closely linked to the SDGs and therefore useful for action research to achieve these goals. In this sense, the reader will find in this chapter reflections on (a) aspects that are scientifically crucial for healthy social life, (b) The role of sociology in the construction of smart cities and in the achievement of the SDGs, (c) the relevance of knowing the social reality of municipalities, and (d) how local governments can participate in processes of social, cultural...
