Rutkis (†) in the central region of the Venezuelan Coastal Range during 1994 and 1995. 62 species of Marchantiophyta grouped in 14 families and 37 genera were identified. The leafy liverwort represent the largest group with 10 families, 31 genera and 54 species; whereas the thallose liverwort number only 4 families, 4 genera and 8 species. The family Lejeuneaceae resulted to be the most diverse, with 18 genera and 32 species. On the other hand, the genera Ceratolejeunea, Lejeunea, Frullania, Lophocolea and Symphyogyna together hold the largest number of species. Eight new registers for the Venezuelan bryoflora and 19 additions to the bryoflora of the Coastal Range are recorded. The intensification of collections of Hepaticae in the mentioned region is urgently recommended.

It is represented by 2847 specimens contained in 25 families, 92 genera and 356 species of liverworts, including specimen of Anthocerotae, distributed in 1 family, 1 genera and one species. The collection counts 2782 nationals. The data is classified according according to Crandall-Stotler & Stotler (2000) and is complemented by locality data, collector, number of collector and date of collection.

Lejeuneaceae was determined to be the richest family of genera and species (18 genera / 28 species). The distribution of the species showed a high specificity for substrates soil, bark and leaf for different studies areas. Of the total number of species, 8 represent new records for the country, while 12 species are additions to the bryoflora of the mountain range. Cystolejeunea lineata (Lehm. & Lindenb.) Evans, are considered vulnerable according to th International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in the Libro Rojo de las Briofitas de Colombia.
