Biostimulants offer a potentially novel approach for the regulation/modification of physiological... more Biostimulants offer a potentially novel approach for the regulation/modification of physiological processes in plants to stimulate growth, to mitigate stress-induced limitations, and to increase yield. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of vegetable biostimulants in soybean crop subjected to different soil water conditions. The experiments were carried out in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019, in a completely randomized design (water deficit, combination of biostimulants, and application time). The combinations of biostimulants and time of application were: no combination (control); foliar application at stage V5; foliar application stages V5 and R1; seed treatment; seed treatment and V5 applications; and seed treatment, V5 and R1 applications. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the post-harvest quality and durability of safflower flower stems treated with different pre-cooling periods and preservative solutions. Inflorescence brassicas, such as broccoli and cauliflower, rich in fiber and vitamins, are widely... more Inflorescence brassicas, such as broccoli and cauliflower, rich in fiber and vitamins, are widely consumed in Brazil, and present an average production of 23 t ha-1. Despite this demand, the quality of seedlings of both species is one of the main factors that limit production. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate broccoli and cauliflower seedling emergence and production in different substrates, using the irrigation method named Deep Film Technique (DFT) on a table. The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design, 7×2: substrate compositions (volumetric proportions of 1:0:0; 0:1:0; 0:0:1; 1:1:1; 1:1:0; 1:0:1 and 0:1:1, containing commercial substrate Carolina Soil®, carbonized rice husk and medium textured sand) and inflorescence brassicas (broccoli and cauliflower), with four replications. Com o precario saneamento basico brasileiro associado ao desperdicio de agua, torna-se essencial ... more Com o precario saneamento basico brasileiro associado ao desperdicio de agua, torna-se essencial encontrar meios de reaproveitar os recursos hidricos. Assim, objetivou-se, neste trabalho, testar a eficacia de materiais alternativos como recheio de um filtro biologico aerado de pequena escala, frente a amostras de aguas de diferentes qualidades. Foram feitas doze replicas iguais do filtro, confeccionadas com politereftalato de etileno, membrana geotextil, casca de arroz, serragem, carcaca de pneu e areia fina. Foram filtradas amostras de agua coletadas do Arroio Esperanca e da Estacao de Tratamento de Efluentes, ambos de Santa Maria - RS. A vazao do sistema de filtragem foi de 0,461 m3 h-1. Constatou-se que os materiais utilizados foram eficazes no tratamento de agua. A reaeracao da agua promovida pelo sistema implicou a reducao de coliformes termotolerantes, e a remocao dos solidos totais dissolvidos influenciou na diminuicao do nitrato e na demanda bioquimica de oxigenio.

The objective of this work was to assess the physiological and sanitary viability of black bean seeds stored with different initial moisture contents and cold storage periods. It was used a completely randomized design, 3×5 (seed moisture levels: 10, 13 and 16%, and storage periods: 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months in cold rooms, with four repetitions). Black bean seeds belonging to variety IPR88 Uirapuru were grown in the municipality of Santa Maria, Brazil, harvested in March 2020, and stored in a cold room (15ºC and 40% RH) in Kraft paper bags (brown type, 1.0 kg). Physiological variables and sanitary quality were assessed through laboratory tests. Springs of the Vacacaí-Mirim river basin, in the Atlantic Forest biome, are protected by law beca... more Springs of the Vacacaí-Mirim river basin, in the Atlantic Forest biome, are protected by law because they provide an environmental service through water supply. No study provided identification, estimates and information about the seasonality of water resilience and environmental conditions of these springs, which supply the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This study monitored headwater flow volume and interpreted the results through seasonality and use of the flow duration curve, characterizing the springs and showing the water production capacity. As a result, the springs presented higher flow duration curve contrasts. Considering consistent monitoring time, differences in flow characteristics occurred in the analyzed springs allowed to qualify based on their persistence, temporary or ephemeral flow, showing which springs are more resilient.
