O objetivo foi o planejamento, a execução e a análise econômica no aproveitamento da água de chuva para reduzir o consumo de água do subsolo. O estudo foi realizado para o setor de Floricultura do Colégio Politécnica da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, no período de março de 2011 a fevereiro de 2013. Contendo no setor uma estufa climatizada de 626,24 m2 de telhado que foi utilizado para captar a água de chuva. Foram instalados três reservatórios de 20.000 litros cada um. Reduziu-se o consumo de água proveniente do subsolo em 70%. O tempo de retorno foi de 5 anos.

Brazil has favorable conditions for the cultivation of bioenergy sources due to its tropical climate and it’s currently concentrated on a single source, sugar cane. However, due to the low temperatures in winter and incidences of frost, only the State of Rio Grande do Sul doesn ́t have the potential climate for planting sugar cane and, consequently, its reduced share in the production of ethanol. An alternative to sugar cane are the starchy, among which we can highlight sweet potato and cassava. Apart from subsistence farming, sweet potatoes (Ipomoea batatas) may be marketed for the biofuels industry, benefiting small farmers. The studies on management and use of water resources has been one focus of several research, they... more The studies on management and use of water resources has been one focus of several research, they are looking for alternatives to the use of natural resources and sustainability. The study aimed to planning, execution and estimate the economic return of the use of rainwater for washing vehicles, agricultural machinery and implements. The study was conducted for the sector of mechanization of the Polytechnic School of the Federal University of Santa Maria, from March 2011 to February 2013. The roof of agricultural mechanization sector has a catchment area of 215.45 m2 . Five tanks of 7000 liters each were installed. The underground water consumption was reduced by 100%. It was used 458,120.25 liters of water from rainy and intended for the proposed activities. The reservoirs were the largest investment, accounting for 63%, followed by washing 27% and 10% of total costs. RESUMO Neste trabalho, compósito Fe2O3/grafite foi preparado e usado como um catalisador em reaçã... more RESUMO Neste trabalho, compósito Fe2O3/grafite foi preparado e usado como um catalisador em reação foto-Fenton para a descoloração de solução aquosa contendo o corante amaranto sob irradiação de luz visível. Amostras com diferentes teores de Fe2O3 suportados sobre grafite foram preparadas e caracterizadas por difração de raios-X (DRX), adsorção-dessorção de N2 e microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). O aumento do teor de ferro nos compósitos resultou em uma superior área de superfície específica. Através da metodologia de superfície de respostas gerada a partir do Delineamento Composto Central Rotacional (DCCR), verificou-se uma eficiência máxima de descoloração da solução de corante de 93% nas condições experimentais ótimas de reação foto-Fenton (pH = 2,5, quantidade de catalisador = 0,35 g L-1 e razão molar H2O2/Ʃ elementos mineralizáveis: 4,7). ABSTRACT Swine wastewater containing high concentration of phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) was tr... more ABSTRACT Swine wastewater containing high concentration of phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N) was treated by struvite precipitation method. The pH showed to have strong influence on N and P removal, whereas the excess of ammonia in the reaction medium did not show influence. The precipitated crystals were identified and analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and surface area (BET) revealing that there was the formation of a pure and crystalline phase mesostructured at pH 9.5 with an average crystal size in nanometric scale.
