However, the bulky, expensive and laboratory-based readout circuitry made it impossible to be used in the field-based environment. A miniaturized and portable readout circuitry for the DNA detection using hybridization technique had been design and developed in this work. It embedded with fabricated FR4 based sensor and produced respective current when the applied voltage was within the range of 0 to 0.5 V. The readout circuitry had been verified with five analysis environments. Bare Au with distilled water (dH2O), bare Au with ferricyanide reagent solution, DNA immobilization, DNA non-hybridization and DNA hybridization. All the results performed produced peak cathodic current when the applied input voltage is within 0.5 V to 3 V and hence proved that the miniaturized and portable readout circuitry is suitable to be implemented for...

In addition, various breast density levels could decrease the learning system’s ability to extract sufficient feature descriptors and may result in lower accuracy performance. Therefore, this study is proposing a textural-based image enhancement technique named Spatial-based Breast Density Enhancement for Mass Detection (SbBDEM) to boost textural features of the overlapped mass region based on the breast density level. This approach determines the optimal exposure threshold of the images’ lower contrast limit and optimizes the parameters by selecting the best intensity factor guided by the best Blind/Reference-less Image Spatial Quality Evaluator (BRISQUE) scores separately for both dense and non-dense breast classes prior to training. Recent advances in sensing techniques, microcontroller and IoT technologies have allowed the development of various techniques in detection and prevention of fire accidents due to gas leakage. This paper present an IoT based system for monitoring and controlling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which is commonly used as cooking gas at home, in order to prevent leakage. NodeMCU is used as the controller of this system where it processes the data of gas concentration and flame occurrence from MQ-2 sensors and Flame sensors respectively, and decides on the action to be taken by the system to activate prevention devices. Blynk application is used as the platform to notify the user when a gas leakage has occurred, monitor the concentration of gas and control the fire prevention devices installed along with the system. With this system, the user is able to monitor the concentration of the gas in ppm on their smartphone, receive notifications and remotely take necessary action when gas leakage occurs.

Generally, the medical expert conducts a white matter hyperintensities analysis to investigate brain tissue abnormality using manual or semi-automatic methods. However, those methods are prone to error and they establish unreliable results as different in rating scales. In this paper, a fully automatic method is proposed to identify WMH using the multimodal technique which combining image segmentation and enhancement. This method is introduced as an unsupervised method to automatically segment WMH on MRI images of T2-weighted and FLAIR sequences. Subsequently, the processed sequences are integrated by overlying the mapping images in order to map the most precise WMH regions. The accuracy of the WMH regions identification is assessed through the similarity index between automated and manual approach. The experimental results show that the proposed method has achieved significant results to detect exact WMH area. The proposed method is suitable to be implemented in analyzing white matter hyperintensities identification and it may serves as a computer-aided tool for radiologists.

Gas leaks can lead to the presence of dangerous gas in the house. As it is responsible for killing 20 people every year, it is essential to know how to detect a leak. The main focus of this project is to detect and monitor the gas level using gas sensor and send gas level to the Ubidots via Internet of Thing (IoT). This project measures the gas level within the house or Industrial factory and update and keep a safe gas level and stored data into Ubidots’s dashboard. The gas level is analyzed and an alert notification is sent to the owner if there is a gas leakage in the house through social media on the smartphone. The gas level data are analyzed by Ubidots to determine the gas level throughout the day and week. Image with noise becomes a problem for gaining information. The process begins by improving the image quality by applying various filters that can enhance the image to be subjectively better. The image result can be seen after the image has gone through the enhancement process (image filter) where more detail can be seen, unwanted flickering removed and the image contrast increasingly better. The objective is to find an image filtering algorithm that gives an excellent result based on the image quality assessment. The image quality assessment is the analyses based on the parameter of means square error and peak- signal noise ratio in decibels by using MATLAB software. The image filtering algorithm then uses the median filter, gaussian filter, mean filter and wiener filter. Different noises such as gaussian and salt & pepper are applied with different noise percentage added to the image to determine which image filter has better performance. Last but not least, this paper image quality assessment for the image filtering algorithm through the qualitative and quantitative analyses will discuss the most efficient image filter to remove unwanted signal and noise on the image.

The information is needed by the National Book Council of Malaysia (NBCM) to assess reading frequencies of young people, correlated using speed-reading tests. Hence, a mobile app for speed-reading test in Bahasa Malaysia called Bacalaju has been developed. Applying Progressive Web Application (PWA) that uses front-end website technology, an Android app is generated by compiling the code with Android SDK (Software Development Kit). After the user took their speed-reading test, the result will be transferred via Asynchronous JavaScript And XML (AJAX) POST request and stored in a database on the cloud. The mobile app is seen to benefit young readers in Malaysia because it enables users to evaluate their reading skills and encourage them to improve the skills, i.e. speed-reading level and comprehension. At the same time, a website was developed to display the overall result, preliminary result indicated that 37.8% of 98 users involved in this study has both good speed-reading level based on the Taylor Grade Equivalent units and able to score more than 50% in their comprehension test.

Generally, the MRI images particularly the vessels that contain vigorously flowing blood is seen low signal and this may reflect to vascular patency. Moreover, the manual delineation method to visually detect the flow voids is tedious and time consuming. Recently, an image processing technique such as watershed segmentation is most recommended technique to segment the MRI images of flow voids. A common watershed transformation used for segmentation is the marker-controlled segmentation, but the application of such method is limited particularly due to over-segmentation and sensitivity to the noise. Therefore, in order to overcome such limitations, this study is proposed a new scheme of improved technique to segment flow voids image based on watershed and k-means segmentation algorithms. The proposed technique that involves pre-processing process and the improved watershed segmentation algorithm is used to capture the flow voids in the MRI images. The performance of the proposed technique is measured by evaluating its accuracy to detect flow-voids and hence the results are compared to the golden standard results provided by manual delineation method. The proposed segmentation technique reveals that it is has highly suffice to reduce over-segmentation detection of flow voids in the MRI images with accuracy up to 90%. From the comparison results, it is also shows that the new proposed has potential to be used as pre-processing tools for radiologists in the future.
