This Policy continued from the the Soviet policy towards Israel and the Palestinian Question changed directly and drastically during the period of Mikhail Gorbachev 1985-1991, with his reforms of Perestroika and Glasnost that caused the fall of the Eastern Bloc countries, the collapse of Warsaw Pact organization and the fall of the USSR in December 1991. Russia under Yeltsin was too busy to deal with Israel and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as there were many problems in Russia itself, as it's no longer a superpower, and the transition to capitalism from communism caused Russia a lot of financial and economic problems regarding the unemployment, poverty, rise of oligarchy, high crime rates, insecurity, the war in Chechnya in the year of 1994 as they wanted to separate from Russia and get their independence. Russia supported the Oslo Accords between Israel and the PLO under the leadership of Yasser Arafat, and it continued to support the Palestinian people in Israel and the Palestinian territories through Education, Culture, Teaching the Russian language and sending pilgrims and tourism from Russia to Israel and the Palestinian territories. Furthermore, Israel absorved 2 million Russian speaking people from the former USSR and 60 % of them are not Jews nor have Jewish origins and the Russian language became popular in Israel. The Russian foreign policy towards Israel changed during the era of Vladimir Putin who sought to strengthen the Russian role in the Middle East and in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Israeli-Arab conflict in regards the USA. Russia supported the Palestinian Authority financially and militarily as well as continued to support Syria the most Pro-Russian Arabic ally to Moscow. Russia balanced its ties with Israel and the Palestinian people and the Arabic countries that are in a conflict with Israel.

Nonetheless, Russia needs Poland as a strategic zone for the pipeline transits of the Druzhba and Yamal for the European Union countries. The Russian investment in Poland is extremely low in comparison to other economic trade partners. Poland turned away from Russian influence and became inclined towards the pro-American and pro-Western policies of the Return for Europe, as Poland thrived for closing the economic gaps with the West and maintaining good and stable relations with its Eastern neighbours in the Post-Communist period. Russia wanted to reassert her political economic influence in Poland through the Russian Banks and energy companies. In the 1990's the Russian economy struggled in the economic transition to capitalism that was characterized by economic crisis, the rise of oligarchy and the Ruble crisis of 1998. However, the Russian economic influence remains strong in Poland. Furthermore, Russia under Putin benefited from the global rise of oil and gas prices that prospered the Russian economy from this industry.
