Presenting the development of the European Network against Racism and its organization, he highlights the thought process that led anti-racist activists to depart from a purely legal approach to discrimination and inequality to engage in a constructive conversation with public and private employers about diversity management. Since 2009, this organization has been through a long cycle of learning and exploration of the challenges of racially and ethnically diversifying a workforce and articulating business cases to that effect, while seeking to remain faithful to its founding principles of inclusion and equality. The author touches upon a variety of issues emerging from the practice of its organization: the difficulties, sometimes reluctance of HR managers to confront racism, their quest for tools, the blockings around equality data collection, the ambivalent role of trade unions as well as post-modern tensions between standardization and individualization which lie at the heart of diversity management.

A number of projects have been developed within Muslim communities, but they often either lack academic quality or are connected to groups with specific ideological affiliations. A number of universities attempted to develop Master level curricula. Drawing from their learning cycle, a project of joint curriculum to be supported by a consortium of European universities has been developed, grounded in Western Islamic studies (islamology). This paper explores the interweaving of islamology in such a curriculum.

Un moment opportun qu’a choisi le Réseau européen contre le racisme (ENAR) pour sortir son dernier ouvrage en date «" Invisible Visible Minority – Confronting Afrophobia and Advancing Equality for People of African Descent and Black Europeans in Europe"».
The inclusion of Islam and Muslim communities within European religious and societal landscapesha... more The inclusion of Islam and Muslim communities within European religious and societal landscapeshas been an ongoing and multifaceted concern for most Western European societies following the increase of their Muslim populations since the 1960s. In this context, the role of Muslim religious leaders (imams and chaplains, in particular) in facilitating the adjustment of their co-religionists in matters of norms, values, ethics and behaviours has become a core issue. Indeed, several imams, due to their training in non-European contexts, have lacked the understanding or discernment to formulate relevant guidance, which has stirred public conversationson the importance of training imams in Europe. The series of terrorist operations over the last six years has further catalysed this debate. For example, the report of the Belgian parliamentary inquiry into the bombing on 22 March 2016 and that of the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Terrorism have also called for due attention to be focused on the importance of training imams in Europe. Interestingly, far from navigating uncharted territories, a number of academic reports have explored this issue in various national contexts,3 while there is also a breadth of practical experience available at the European level.

The ferocity of terrorist acts has also stunned Muslim communities. Now social networking provides a platform for dissenting Islamic voices critical of cultural and religious norms that fail to counter violent radicalisation or serve to indulge it.
