Although the most common welding methods for aluminum are TIG, MIG, and plasma, due to the high temperatures during welding, the metallurgical precipitates formed in the heat affected zone disrupt the interior and affect the mechanical properties negatively. Friction welding of tube to tube plate using an external tool (FWTPET) which is a fairly new method has been developed to overcome this shortcoming and tube to tube plate welding has started to be made with this method. In this study, aluminum alloy AA6063 tubes were successfully joined to AA6082 plate by FWTPET. The welding groove on the plate, the gap between the tube and the plate, and the tube projection length were studied experimentally. The effects of all parameters on shear strength, micro hardness, and the formation of internal structure of the weld zone were investigated, as a result the optimum welding parameters are founded.

In this study, the effect of gas metal arc welding on the mechanical and microstructure propertie... more In this study, the effect of gas metal arc welding on the mechanical and microstructure properties of hot-rolled XPF800 steel newly produced by TATA Steel has been investigated. This steel finds its role in the automotive industry as chassis and seating applications. The microstructure transformation during gas metal arc welding has been analyzed using scanning electron microscope, optical microscope, and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. Tensile, Charpy impact, and microhardness tests have been implemented to determine the mechanical properties of welded samples. Acceptable welded joints have been obtained using heat input in the range of 0.28–0.46 kJ/mm. It has been found that the base metal hardness of the welded sample is 320 HV0.1. On account of the heat-affected zone softening, the intercritical heat-affected zone hardness values have diminished ∼20% compared to base metal.

In this study, the effect of the number of blades (z=5, 6, and 7), blade discharge angles (β2b=25, and β2b=35) and splitter blade lengths (40, 55, 70, and 85% of the main blade length) on Deep Well Pump (DWP) performance has been studied experimentally. To determine whether there is a relationship between trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis (BV),... more To determine whether there is a relationship between trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis (BV), cervicovaginal smears obtained from 600 women were stained with the Papanicolaou technique and examined cytologically. Thirty-six (6%) of 600 women were diagnosed as having Trichomonas vaginalis [TV(+)]. Sixteen (44.4%) of 36 TV(+) cases were observed as having BV [BV(+)]. Thirty-one of 564 TV(-) vaginal smears were also positive for BV (5.5%). There was a statistically significant correlation between trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis (p < 0.05). It is possible that TV might create an anaerobic environment, thereby changing the vaginal flora. This flora becomes a more suitable milieu for growing of anaerobic microorganisms. It can be postulated that TV might be the most important protozoan that contributes to the overgrowth of BV-related microorganisms.
Despite the hegemonic existence of transnational corporations, there are still certain ways to ch... more Despite the hegemonic existence of transnational corporations, there are still certain ways to challenge their hegemony and highly un-democratic behaviour, particularly in connection with labour rights. The labour movement can still, to some extent, confront globalised monopoly capital, constituting a counter-force to that of capital in the context of neo-liberal globalisation. Various methods, policies and organisational bases exist for the labour movement to target specific TNCs, building coalitions with the victims and opponents of the system. Transnational solidarity campaigns are one of the most important tools used by organised labour to overcome the barriers to organise and to achieve basic demands from TNCs and their supply chains. This article draws lessons from three such successful campaigns in Turkish companies concerning the common characteristics which made determining contributions, while also pointing to the need for efforts to continue in the postcampaign environment to ensure that workplace gains and union branch organisation are sustainable.

Primary spinal PNETs are extremely rare and most cases involving the spinal cord are drop metastases from primary intracranial tumors by cerebrospinal fluid. Herewith, we present a 40-day-old infant with multilevel primary spinal PNET at Th12-L1 and L5-S1 levels associated with hydrocephalus occurring nearly 15 days after the operation. According to our knowledge this is probably the first case harboring all these pathologies. Multilevel primary intraspinal PNET in an infant is even rarer and can be associated with hydrocephalus that occurs during the postoperative period.
