After pointing out the problems with this evaluative and corrective feedback approach, the authors describe the design and implementation of a computer-based error analysis system (MADER), which factors in a diachronic identification of likely sources of learner difficulties. Confronted with a portrait of errors common to a particular task, MADER is able to indicate the likely source of difficulties by proposing either a simple hypothesis of the student's acquired mastery, or a set of alternative hypotheses. In the latter case, MADER suggests that the student be assigned a specific set of exercises that will help him or her decide between the hypotheses. The authors also note the limitations of applicability of the MADER system and suggest possible extensions, in the framework of distance teaching, which might make better use of the feedback capacity of telematic networks.

ABSTRACT : This contribution, which results from our participation in the Symfonic symposium, is structured around four questions which concern different aspects of the use of electronic exchanges in distance learning. Among these aspects, let us name: the modalities of remote exchanges in the pedagogical design process, the models useful...

Four questions guided the research: (1) What are the perceptions of the preservice teachers about biology teaching? (2) What are the preconceptions of preservice teachers about high school students? (3) What constructivist teaching practices were used by preservice teachers? and (4) What evidence of reflective thinking was explained in the journals of the preservice teachers? This qualitative study was conducted with 33 students enrolled in Biology Methods, which is a required course in the Biology Teacher Licensure program. The results of the study were encouraging, especially the finding that constructivist teaching practices can be gradually included in the teaching repertory of beginning teachers through constant practice as they develop an understanding of the teaching-learning process. The preservice teachers unanimously agreed that field ex...

It is therefore frequent to observe a dropout rate of around 90% in MOOCs. This finding brought us to create a reminder device for the students in order to tackle with this high dropout rate. More precisely, this study is assessing the effect of three different forms of reminder emails on the participants’ persistence. Each of these forms has a different level of email customization features. The results observed in this study are based on a MOOC session “Learn and Teach” held between September and December 2016. They demonstrate that learners who received weekly customized reminder emails have persisted longer in their learning process than the others.

A one-year research is based on the exploitation of a systemic model of intervention regarding ICT integration in educative process [1], [2]. The sample consists of six classes of different levels from six dispersed French speaking Belgian schools that present contrasted implementation contexts. More than 100 pupils (from fifteen to twenty-two by class), aged eight to twelve, manipulated tablets in the frame of various projects. At the end of the analysis, we highlight constants between the cases as well as relational chains between the variables of the model.

There is currently a real enthusiasm for educational robotics which is supported by the incessant emergence of new educational robots and articles published by the media. Undoubtedly, at least at the level of primary education, a new wave of technology appeared in order for concepts of programming (or "coding") sweeps to be applied, which consequently raises the question of what it can bring to teachers and learners over time. At the same time, scientific research in this field is making significant progress in recent years by providing interesting results in both basic and applied research. On the other hand, there are many challenges with obtaining data with respect to the appropriation of this type of approach by teachers. Indeed, initial and in-service training of teachers is a major challenge to develop learning activities...
