Wilmia brasiliensis gen. et sp. nov., a member of
Phaeosphaeriaceae reported here associated with leaf
spots on Memora pedunculata (Bignoniaceae) in two
collections from the Brazilian Cerrado
Cylindrocladium scoparium and C. clavatum. Susceptibility was principally assessed in terms of
the severity of leaf spotting.
solanacearum Biovar 1 is described, This disease has
resulted in mortality of up to 17% of 6-month-old transplants of E, pellita in plantations on lands recently cleared
of rainforest in equatorial Brazil. In plots previously planted
with E, deglupta or Gmelina arborea mortality was less than
3%, In 2- to 3-year-old E. urophyl/a the disease is also
associated with secondary decay, termite attack and
increased susceptibility to windthrow. There are indications
that one provenance of E, deglupta, one of E, pellita and
two of E, tereticornis may be tolerant to bacterial wilt
