Accessibility actions in Distance Education (DE) seek to contribute to the integration of deaf st... more Accessibility actions in Distance Education (DE) seek to contribute to the integration of deaf students in higher education. For the actions that can be proposed, it is necessary to be well acquainted of the needs of this target audience in terms of communication, language and interface design. The aim of this study was then to evaluate the communicability of the Virtual UFMG interface, customized in Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Moodle, using the Semiotic Inspection Intermediated Method (SUM). The application of this method revealed the main communication problems in the Virtual UFMG interface, apprehended the special needs of the deaf in both situations, in the DE context and the VLE Moodle environments. The results from this application also showed the relevant categories of the system's use and also proposed suggestions for the interface improvement. It was then possible to generate indicators on accessibility in distance education written in Portuguese and focused on deaf users, contributing to their accessibility to DE contexts of academic studies.
Este artigo discute as produções escritas de artigos de opinião, nos moldes da redação do Exame N... more Este artigo discute as produções escritas de artigos de opinião, nos moldes da redação do Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM), de dois alunos surdos que participaram do “Curso de Redação para o ENEM”, na modalidade de Educação a Distância (EAD), produzido e implementado na pesquisa de mestrado de Barbosa (2016). Apresenta o “Modelo Didático de Produção Escrita” de Dias (2004), o qual foi utilizado para a criação das atividades de produção textual do curso EAD. São apresentadas ainda algumas especificidades da escrita do português como segunda língua (PL2) por alunos surdos. Verificou-se que as etapas propostas pelo modelo didático utilizado proporcionaram aos participantes surdos conhecimentos aprofundados sobre o tema a ser escrito, além de os auxiliarem na organização textual e léxico-gramatical do gênero artigo de opinião em português.

English school textbooks have a long tradition in the Brazilian public sector of education. Most ... more English school textbooks have a long tradition in the Brazilian public sector of education. Most often they are the only pedagogical resources in an English classroom. English public textbooks are submitted to a National Program for evaluation and this educational policy has had positive impacts on these materials. This article analyzes one of the units of a textbook series for teens that was approved in 2020. Our analysis focuses on the two “multis”, the multiliteracies pedagogy and the active role today’s learners play in learning. We also highlight some alternatives for improvements and give some suggestions for English teachers. The documentary research method within the qualitative paradigm supports our analysis. Our results show that the unit follows the principles of the two “multis” and the cycle of knowledge processes although its pedagogical design can be improved.
