El presente texto nos acerca a la historiografía acerca de la depuración del Magisterio Nacional ... more El presente texto nos acerca a la historiografía acerca de la depuración del Magisterio Nacional durante el primer franquismo en España. Desde los años 70 del pasado siglo hasta la actualidad, el estudio de este fenómeno se ha incrementado y pulido, -especialmente a partir de la publicación de la investigación de Morente Valero, que ha supuesto una inflexión, acudiendo a las fuentes documentales del Archivo General de la Administración (AGA)- aunque bien es cierto que todavía no está consumado el estudio completo de esta depuración administrativa de los maestros de escuela en la totalidad del país. Son numerosos los estudios de ámbito provincial, en Galicia disponemos del que se centra en el coruñés, pero también abundan trabajos parciales. Descubramos, pues, el paisaje historiográfico propuesto.

Nuestro objetivo es estudiar el proceso de depuración de los maestros de primera enseñanza de las... more Nuestro objetivo es estudiar el proceso de depuración de los maestros de primera enseñanza de las escuelas públicas de la provincia de A Coruña durante el franquismo a partir de los expedientes que sobre ellos se conservan en el AGA de Alcalá de Henares. Se trata de ver cómo se produjo este proceso, qué ideología tenían los afectados a qué partido, sindicatos y otra clase de organizaciones pertenecían, entre otros datos que sus expedientes pueden esconder. Queremos comprobar el nivel de dureza que la comisión depuradora provincial aplicó a estos profesionales, ver de igual modo qué sexo resultó más purgado.se trata de analizar con los datos mencionados una etapa histórica en la que la escuela fue el centro de atención de los nuevos gobiernos del general Franco como instrumento preciado para inocular ideología a las nuevas generaciones y en el que había que hacer una "limpieza de personal contagiado" en los años de la República que acababa de ser derrotada

Esta tesis doctoral aborda la depuracion de los maestros nacionales en el territorio provincial d... more Esta tesis doctoral aborda la depuracion de los maestros nacionales en el territorio provincial de A Coruna. Partiendo de las caracteristicas que rigieron en la escuela republicana y la contrarrevolucion de la escuela franquista, se estudia a fondo todo el proceso depurador desarrollado contra los docentes de las escuelas nacionales. El estudio da a conocer la actividad de las diversas instancias depuradoras: las autoridades Militar y Gubernativa, la Junta de Decanos, el Rectorado; la Comision Depuradora Provincial, la Comision de Cultura y Ensenanza, el Ministerio de Educacion Nacional con la Oficina Tecnica Administrativa, la Comision Superior Dictaminadora y el Juzgado Superior de Revisiones. Los maestros de los que consta su depuracion administrativa son, segun la documentacion consultada, 2.061. Antonio Palacios Ramilo para dotar a la catedral de Ourense de un acceso por su fachada occidental, con el
diseño de una gran plaza que obligaría a derribar casas viejas e insalubres, en palabras de los prohombres de
la ciudad en aquel momento, finales de los años 20 del pasado siglo. Abrir espacios urbanos sin importar la
zona, con el fin de favorecer al monumento, en este caso la catedral, estaba en la mente de los ourensanos de
entonces y su defensa no hacía más que recordar parte de la filosofía del Barón Haussmann en el París de la
segunda mitad del XIX. El proyecto de Palacios nunca se construyó pues la actual plaza de San Martiño es obra
de Francisco Pons Sorolla, a finales de la década de los años 70 del pasado siglo.

Abstract
In this article we try tosee the imprint of Haussmannism that the project of the architect Antonio Palacios Ramilo revealsto provide the cathedral of Ourense with Access throughits western facade, with the design of a large

Esta tierra conserva unas trazas del arquitecto porriñés que, junto con las de la sede municipal de su villa natal, configuran las dos obras señeras con las que Palacios se estrenó como arquitecto regionalista en Galicia. Nos referimos, en el caso ourensano, al proyecto del santuario de la Virgen de la Encarnación en la villa de Celanova, que no llegó a sobrepasar el papel. Pero Palacios desplegó igualmente guiños regionalistas en otras obras como la iglesia de la Veracruz en O Carballiño y en su proyecto para la plaza de San Martiño en Ourense.

La historia constructiva de la catedral de Ourense cuenta ya con numerosas aportaciones tales com... more La historia constructiva de la catedral de Ourense cuenta ya con numerosas aportaciones tales como las de Sánchez Arteaga, Cándido Cid, Pita Andrade o Carrero Santamarina, por citar solamente algunos autores, aunque son menos abundantes los trabajos que tratan sobre su espacio externo, tema que entra en el ámbito del urbanismo. De ahí nuestro interés en abordar la problemática de la construcción de un acceso a los pies del templo cuya solución ha sido anhelada en un largo devenir histórico que, arrancando en los años 20 del pasado siglo, llega a nuestros días. Es por ello que se ha presentado nuestro libro. Para abordar este trabajo hemos consultado 10 archivos, entre públicos, privados y de familias concretas; 9 hemerotecas españolas y abundante bibliografía. No había estudios previos sobre esta plaza lo que obligó a tejer con paciencia su historia. Como objetivos nos marcamos realizar un recorrido del devenir histórico de la recoleta plaza de San Martín, localizando, reuniendo y analizando los planos originales de Antonio Palacios. Esta es la primera investigación hecha con las trazas propias de Palacios en Ourense. De igual modo pretendimos atender a la contextualización de dicho proyecto, teniendo en cuenta sus promotores y las reacciones institucionales (Corona de España, Consejo de Ministros del recién estrenado régimen de Franco, Cabildo de la catedral de Ourense, Diputación Provincial de Ourense, Ayuntamiento de Ourense). Todo proyecto tiene un eco social y este provocó una gran resonancia en la Galicia de la época.
También pudimos comprobar su impacto en la prensa gallega del momento, consultando los periódicos y revistas más significativas. La idea palaciana se convirtió, con el tiempo, en algo mítico en la ciudad de As Burgas. Hemos querido ver por qué no se materializó el proyecto, del que conocemos su recorrido burocrático desde el año 1927 hasta 1946.
Otro objetivo fue inscribir el plan de Francisco Pons-Sorolla a través de los planos conservados en los archivos ourensanos. Un proyecto, el suyo, mucho menos ambicioso que el palaciano. También pretendimos conocer las gestiones originadas en el Ayuntamiento desde mediados del siglo XX, con todo el aparato de expropiaciones, largo en el tiempo. Y alguna coincidencia con el Colegio de Arquitectos. Tal como se hizo con las trazas de Palacios, con las de Pons-Sorolla también buscamos su repercusión en la prensa de la época. El libro analiza, además, la polémica reconstrucción del edificio al sur de la nueva plaza, tanto por lo que respecta a la reacción ciudadana como de la prensa. Dicha actuación originó una plataforma vecinal que no logró liberar la plaza.

Su mano derecha fue el vicario Diego Bugallo Pita, considerado en la diocesis como un obispo en la sombra, dada la enfermedad del prelado. Cerviño, en 1926, solicitó a José Calvo Sotelo interceder ante el Ministro de Gracia y Justicia para apoyar la obra de la Catedral, de darle acceso a la misma por la fachada principal inutilizada por falta de escaleras. Desde 1926, cuando se empezó a pensar en serio la futura plaza, hasta el 2016, tiempo de finalización de la polémica casa del sur de la plaza, hubo muchas gestiones para que el casco histórico de la ciudad tuviese ese espacio digno ante su catedral.
Por el libro pasan denuncias ante la Nunciatura, acuerdos institucionales para colaborar en el coste del proyecto de Palacios, que era de 1.074.000 pesetas. Desfilan conocidos prebostes de la cultura gallega, se habla de arquitectura comercial americana, de haussmanismo, de arqueología y de urbanismo. Ingredientes todos reunidos en tan pequeña plaza que la han hecho llegar a nuestros días sin ser la mejor plaza soñada para tan noble lugar, pues ha sido un verdadero laboratorio de despropósitos. En 253 páginas de monografía se recoge la historia de 90 años de Ourense alrededor de un proyecto, de unos proyectos, que fueron dando forma a la Plaza de San Martiño que hoy vemos y que disfrutamos. Una plaza de ayer, pues apenas tiene 40 años.
La investigación pone en manos del lector un texto profusamente documentado en más de 600 notas a pie de página, para tener la visión más completa del objeto a estudiar. En él se muestran con detalle las diversas soluciones urbanísticas para dotar a la catedral de un espacio exterior que embelleciera al monumento. Del esplendor palaciano se llegó a una solución de menor calado.
Como señala la doctora Yolanda Barriocanal, con la terminación de la plaza y su acceso a la catedral “se puede decir concluyó el proceso constructivo de la misma”. Añade quien fue feliz directora de la investigación que ahora ve la luz editorial, que este libro provocará o inducirá al debate acerca del tratamiento del entorno de los monumentos, que es necesario proteger de acuerdo con “los principios de la moderna tutela de los bienes inmuebles”.
