"The striking proliferation of large temporary exhibitions in historical museums, together with t... more "The striking proliferation of large temporary exhibitions in historical museums, together with the mediatic impact of numerous art biennials that we live with, suggest a hegemonically globalized scene, in which the centrality of political economy has moved from industrial interests or speculation with money as a good to the increasingly greater presence of cultural heritage, research and knowledge as future values. For this new scenario of the information society, the auratization of the bourgeois aesthetic experience has made possible the exploitation as ‘belief’ of that the ‘art experience’ belonging to the emotional atmosphere of the individual. However, the battle for the redistribution of the capital gains obtained in putting into circulation the symbolic capital accumulated in works of art is mediated by the legitimation granted by important institutions. Hence the relevance of the defence of public heritage in the benefit of social interests, in face of the temptation to use public institutions to direct the redistribution of the benefits towards private interests.
We shall try to offer here argued perceptions to do with the functioning of the practices of power sustained by ideological systems, largely inundated, in turn, by residues, artefacts, detritus and structures belonging to systems of belief with which humanity has organised its survival. Undoubtedly, we start out with the firm belief that these anachronistic artefacts are still active in one way or another, malignifying social structures with which we manage to produce knowledge for the optimization of our actantiality in society. Convinced that the cultural framework that we call globalization conceals successive segregations of belief, class, gender or ethnicity, we propose to locally explore the practices of power employed in order to define models of redistribution of the benefits, given that we are immersed in the transformation of a capitalist society which seeks to obtain capital gains enhancing the value of the symbolic goods produced through artistic practices."
