In teaching reading comprehension, teaching strategy influence students' reading comprehension. S... more In teaching reading comprehension, teaching strategy influence students' reading comprehension. Strategy which was used in this experimental research was Questioning strategy. Questioning strategy can be used as a variation of teaching strategy in teaching reading comprehension. The purpose of this research was to find out whether the students who are taught by questioning strategy have better reading comprehension of narrative text than those who are taught by conventional strategy. This research was an experimental research with factorial design 2x2. It was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Talamau Pasaman Barat. The population of this research was eleventh grade social science students with total population of 40 students. The sample was taken by using total sampling; so all of population was taken as sample. XI IPS 2 was experimental class and XI IPS 1 as control class. The instruments of this research were reading comprehension test and questionnaire. The data was analyzed by two ways ANOVA (ANOVA 2x2). The results of this research are (1) Reading comprehension of students who are taught by questioning strategy is better than reading comprehension of students who are taught by conventional strategy. Fo = 196.582 > Ft = 2.69, it means that Ha is accepted. INTRODUCTION Reading comprehension also helps the students to understand a text detail. One of the strategies that can help the students comprehend the reading text is by using questioning.. Questions help the students to maintain their sensory focus, to provide communication of important concept through repetition, and to provide effective way of informally assessing students' understanding. According to the curriculum 2006, in the standard competency of senior high school, exposition and narrative are considered as the most important ones to be taught to high school. In this case, the researcher chooses narrative text because it is also offered in the curriculum for second semester at grade XI. After having preliminary research at Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Talamau on July 19 th 2018, the researcher found that the English achievement was low. It was found 3.6 % students of Grade XI 1 got 60-69 point, and 2.16 % got 70-79 point, 2.16 % students of Grade XI 2 got 60-69 point and 1.44 % got 70-79 point. It was proved by KKM (Minimum Achievement Criteria). The perfect score is 100 while the minimum of KKM is 75. Based on the data above and the interview of the English teacher, according to English teacher the problem was in reading comprehension of the text. Because most of question found in English examination was reading. Based on the background of the problem above the researcher identified some problems faced by students in reading comprehension. The problems came from both sides; First, the students got difficulties to comprehend the text. Second, the students had low motivation in reading. Third, the teachers still used conventional strategy in teaching

Language production is logically divided into three major steps: deciding what to express (concep... more Language production is logically divided into three major steps: deciding what to express (conceptualization), determining how to express it (formulation), and expressing it (articulation). Although achieving goals in conversation, structuring narratives, and modulating the ebb and flow of dialogue are inherently important to understanding how people speak, psycholinguistic studies of language production have primarily focused on the formulation of single, isolated utterances. An utterance consists of one or more words, spoken together under a single intentional contour or expressing a single idea. The simplest meaningful utterance consists of a single word. Generating a word begins with specifying its semantic and pragmatic properties-that is, a speaker decides upon an intention or some content to express (e.g., a desired outcome or an observation) and encodes the situational constraints on how the content may be expressed. The next major stage is formulation, which in turn is divided into a word selection stage and a sound processing stage. Sound processing, in contrast, involves constructing the phonological form of a selected word by retrieving its individual sounds and organizing them into stressed and unstressed syllables and then specifying the motor programs to realize those syllables. The final process is articulation-that is, the execution of motor programs to pronounce the sounds of a word. A. Background of the Problem Talking is action. Like most action, it is shaped by motives of many kinds. The study of language production in contemporary psycholinguistics centers on how different kinds of motives affect how people talk or, more broadly, how they convey information in language. In theory, the motives range from intentions to convey particular pieces of information, to desires to impress listeners with one's erudition or eloquence, to aims to articulate clearly and fluently, and everything in between. All these facets of communication are relevant to understanding language production. In current practice, most research focuses on how speakers accomplish the most rudimentary of their goals: producing utterances in English-or in Dutch, French, Polish, or whatever the language of custom may be. Padang and Sijunjung do not have same dialect. Padang city uses Minangkabau Language because this is a standard language eventhought they has many varieties dialect use in daily communication. Padang and Sijunjung, both of which are often called Minangkabau language, are different dialect rather than different dialect of one language because they are not mutually intelligible in their spoken form. The problems are the difference between phoneme in Padang and Sijunjung dialect and phonem deletion and additional in Padang and Sijunjung dialect. There are differences between phoneme of Padang dialect and Sijunjung dialect. Melihat perkembangan game online saat ini, dampak negatifnya yaitu kecanduan. Oleh karena itu dibuatlah angket untuk melihat tingkat kecanduan siswa SMA swasta se-kota Padang. Sebelum angket disebarkan maka perlu diperlukan validasi terhadap angket. Angket di validasi oleh 3 validator yaitu 2 ahli matematika dan 1 ahli Bahasa. Aspek-aspek yang dinilai oleh validator adalah aspek Bahasa, aspek permasalahan dan aspek tujuan. Hasil validasi  menunjukkan bahwa angket sudah valid dari setiap aspek yang dinilai.

This research was conducted based on the problems found during the teaching and learning process ... more This research was conducted based on the problems found during the teaching and learning process in class IX IPS 1 of SMAN 1 Talamau, specifically about students' understanding of narrative text. The problem found is that students cannot determine the main ideas and topics in narrative text, understand the meaning of words, understand implied information, and understand the general structure and features of language in narrative texts.This research is included in quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were students of class IX SMAN 1 Talamau, amounting to 159 people, divided into 4 classes. While this sample is class X8 of SMAN 8 Padang. The instrument used was an objective test. Data from students' objective tests are analyzed based on indicators and then interpreted and become research findings.Based on the results of the study showed that students of class IX IPS 1 SMAN 1 Talamau: 1. The ability to write students in determining the main ideas and topics in the narrative text showed at the intermediate level of 14 people out of 23 students (60,875%). 2. The ability to understand the meaning of words in the narrative text shows at the intermediate level that is 15 people out of 23 students (65.22%). 3. The ability to understand the information implicit in the narrative text shows that at the intermediate level, there are 14 out of 23 students (60.87%). 4. The ability to understand the general structure and language features of narrative texts shows that at the intermediate level, there are 16 students out of 23 students (69.57).From the results of the above research, it can be concluded that students still experience many difficulties in understanding a text, especially in narrative texts in accordance with applicable rules. Furthermore, based on the results of this study teachers are expected to be able to provide better teaching techniques and students can do more exercises to improve students' reading comprehension abilities.

Sijunjung is located in Sijunjung regency about 99 km from Padang City. Sijunjung is a regency of West Sumatera. In society life, language is very important because language is used to communicate. Especially in address form. They always vary their forms in different situation and different addresses even though the person being addressed remains the same. The importance of address forms cannot be overestimated in the use of language in any human society. They serve as an indicator of the social relationship between a speaker and a listener in terms of status and social distance. Sijunjung forms of address literature still limited except for their uses in literary genres. Otherwise, an exploration of various forms of address in Sijunjung may help in understanding the culture of the people and also in knowing the reason why the people behave the way they do in an encounter with others in different situations. The address terms examined in this paper are limited to names only. Pronouns and other forms were not included. The population of this research that the writer takes from questionnaire to native speakers of Sijunjung society. For example, the writer takes 20 informants who can give information about the term of address form of Sijunjung. The writer used observation method and questionnaire technique, then the writer takes the answer sheets of Sijunjung people. There are two methods in representating the result of data analysis, formal and informal method. The informal method is written in the form of verbal statements, meanwhile the formal method is written by symbol and sign. While, informal method by using words based on the finding. In this analysis the writer uses both of method.

This research was conducted based on the problems found during the teaching and learning process ... more This research was conducted based on the problems found during the teaching and learning process in class IX IPS 1 of SMAN 1 Talamau, specifically about students' understanding of narrative text. The problem found is that students cannot determine the main ideas and topics in narrative text, understand the meaning of words, understand implied information, and understand the general structure and features of language in narrative texts.This research is included in quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were students of class IX SMAN 1 Talamau, amounting to 159 people, divided into 4 classes. While this sample is class X8 of SMAN 8 Padang. The instrument used was an objective test. Data from students' objective tests are analyzed based on indicators and then interpreted and become research findings.Based on the results of the study showed that students of class IX IPS 1 SMAN 1 Talamau: 1. The ability to write students in determining the main ideas and topics in the narrative text showed at the intermediate level of 14 people out of 23 students (60,875%). 2. The ability to understand the meaning of words in the narrative text shows at the intermediate level that is 15 people out of 23 students (65.22%). 3. The ability to understand the information implicit in the narrative text shows that at the intermediate level, there are 14 out of 23 students (60.87%). 4. The ability to understand the general structure and language features of narrative texts shows that at the intermediate level, there are 16 students out of 23 students (69.57).From the results of the above research, it can be concluded that students still experience many difficulties in understanding a text, especially in narrative texts in accordance with applicable rules. Furthermore, based on the results of this study teachers are expected to be able to provide better teaching techniques and students can do more exercises to improve students' reading comprehension abilities.

Sijunjung is located in Sijunjung regency about 99 km from Padang City. Sijunjung is a regency of West Sumatera. In society life, language is very important because language is used to communicate. Especially in address form. They always vary their forms in different situation and different addresses even though the person being addressed remains the same. The importance of address forms cannot be overestimated in the use of language in any human society. They serve as an indicator of the social relationship between a speaker and a listener in terms of status and social distance. Sijunjung forms of address literature still limited except for their uses in literary genres. Otherwise, an exploration of various forms of address in Sijunjung may help in understanding the culture of the people and also in knowing the reason why the people behave the way they do in an encounter with others in different situations. The address terms examined in this paper are limited to names only. Pronouns and other forms were not included. The population of this research that the writer takes from questionnaire to native speakers of Sijunjung society. For example, the writer takes 20 informants who can give information about the term of address form of Sijunjung. The writer used observation method and questionnaire technique, then the writer takes the answer sheets of Sijunjung people. There are two methods in representating the result of data analysis, formal and informal method. The informal method is written in the form of verbal statements, meanwhile the formal method is written by symbol and sign. While, informal method by using words based on the finding. In this analysis the writer uses both of method.
