A presente dissertação versa sobre a história de Inhassune, uma povoação no distrito de Panda em ... more A presente dissertação versa sobre a história de Inhassune, uma povoação no distrito de Panda em Inhambane, sul de Moçambique, através de interpretações de memórias, narrativas e experiências sociais conhecidas no contexto de uma pesquisa de campo de perfil etnográfico. Inhassune recebeu, durante o socialismo moçambicano, tecnologias de poder que são simbólicas de um projeto político e econômico de modernização e construção da nação, que implicou na reorganização socioespacial das populações rurais e em experiências de trabalho compulsório: um campo de reeducação entre os anos de 1974-1979 e local de destino de pessoas detidas pela Operação Produção em 1983. Em Inhassune a memória do socialismo perpassa pela significação local destas instituições que fizeram parte da construção e funcionamento de uma empresa agrícola estatal. Busca-se compreender como as ideologias e os empreendimentos estatais entraram em conflito, negociaram, incorporaram-se e adaptaram-se às dinâmicas locais. Mas também como a produção do passado realizado, nacional e localmente, no contexto pós-socialista atual, informa sobre as relações locais das pessoas em Moçambique com o Estado pós-colonial. A pesquisa concentra-se em três eixos: como a presença do Estado nas instituições compulsórias interviu e negociou em uma configuração local de poder, por vezes transformando-a e outras se adaptando a ela; as experiências que as pessoas tiveram com o campo e com a Operação Produção acessado através de memórias de moradores, funcionários e remanescentes; e como o passado em Inhassune se relaciona com o presente da povoação que, atualmente, apresenta dificuldade para obter uma produção agrícola expressiva e vivencia uma crescente e precária economia de extração de pedras. Este artigo estabelece um paralelo analítico entre duas situações etnográficas distintas em Moçam... more Este artigo estabelece um paralelo analítico entre duas situações etnográficas distintas em Moçambique: a “Operação Limpeza”, uma campanha de repatriamento por forças da polícia da República de Moçambique iniciada em Montepuez em 2019, cuja nomenclatura reactivou práticas e discursos de uma acção iniciada em 1974, durante o governo de transição de Moçambique, e o discurso civilizatório, por meio do empreendedorismo, em igrejas pentecostais em Maputo. Embora díspares, as duas situações são fenómenos sociopolíticos relativas ao avanço do neoliberalismo no país. O argumento é de que ambas se relacionam com uma violência moral que orienta processos modernizantes, civilizadores e de empreendedorismo, os quais pressupõem que os moçambicanos precisariam ser educados pelo trabalho. Esses processos, alinhados ao neoliberalismo, pretendem a transformação moral dos moçambicanos, estabelecendo continuidades com fenómenos e discursos de outros momentos históricos do país.
