In the north-west sector of the investigated area there were four silos and a probable elevated granary for storing food in use during the 1st century BC. Not far away, the remains of a rustic structure dating back to Late Antiquity (4th-5th century AD) made of wood have been identified. Here, along the banks of a canal, the remains of structures can be interpreted as a hydraulic mill for grinding cereals.

routes that crossed the Po Valley. This text analyzes the consumption of terra sigillata (both locally produced and imported)
and the trade relations of the city in Late Antiquity.
Local terra sigillata is the most abundant, especially from the second half of the 2nd to the 4th century AD and is inspired by
the contemporary forms of ARS and Gaulish sigillata. ARS is mainly represented by the fabric D. It appears in the 4th century
AD and it is still attested in the 6th and 7th century AD. Gaulish sigillata is very rare and is only certainly attested with a cup
produced in Rheinzabern. The tablewares are mainly concentrated in two places: almost all the fragments of ARS come from
the area of the forum; the most refined pieces and later ones (6th-7th AD) come from the domus of Vicolo Aquila Nera.
The Mediterranean goods arrived from the Adriatic ports to Bergamo through the Po and Oglio rivers. The last stretch over
land was by the Bergomvm-Brixia road.

The funerary assemblages were retrieved by Count Paolo Vimercati Sozzi and Gaetano Mantovani;currently the finds are kept at the Bergamo Archaeological Museum. The study of the assemblages and thedocumentation written by the two Scholars allowed to trace the chronology of three tombs back to the 1 st century AD and of the forth one to Late Antiquity. The tombs were framed within a territorial organizationof Roman age (streets and centurial system) and related to other similar finds at both a chronological and atopographical level. Finally, continuity was recognized between the Roman cemetery and the one that willdevelop in the Early Medieval age.

Although the interest of specialists was focused on the residencial complex, now in consequence of regular excavations, started in 2016 and still in progress, significant data are emerging about an older settlement. The site underwent several transformations during the imperial age until the construction of the pavilions villa. The purpose of this paper is to offer an update about the most ancient phases of the settlement, analyzing the structural remains and the material culture.
