Anterior tooth malposition for patients with deep vertical overlap has been suggested as one of the 3 main causes of excessive gingival display. Specifically, patients with Angle class II, division 2 malocclusions show an occlusal scheme that might be responsible for additional anterior tooth wear when compared with individuals without malocclusion. In the long term, this condition can cause dentoalveolar compensation and overeruption of maxillary incisors with concomitant coronal movement of the gingival margin with excessive gingival display. A combined orthodontic and restorative treatment was proposed as a conservative treatment to reposition maxillary anterior teeth and their gingival margins to a more ideal position and create the necessary interocclusal restorative space to restore worn teeth with ceramic restorations, enhance dental and facial estheti...

Familiarity with the subject was borne out of firsthand experience as a member of the Technical Working Group-SBM responsible in formulating SBM policies. This paper attempts to contribute to that current gap in the SBM system on how to do impact evaluation without necessarily doing randomized controlled experiment to serve as an important advice to the undersecretary for regional operations who chairs the TWG-SBM. It has four parts. Part 1 is a brief history of SBM in the Philippines; Part 2 is a scrutiny of SBM features that are hardly identified due to organizational movements that the Department of Education (DepEd) is currently undergoing; Part 3 is the recommended approach in doing SBM impact evaluation with sub-headings to elaborate the steps; and Part 4 is a synthesis emphasizing the essentials to ensure installation of impact evaluation as part of the system in a learning organization such as DepEd.
