Alina Dafne Maggiore
Scientific/professional affiliation: Since September 2020, I am undertaking my doctoral research as a CIFRE fellow at Institut d’Ethnologie Méditerranéenne, Européenne et Comparative (IDEMEC, Aix-Marseille Université), Institute for Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Germany) and the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (Mucem) in Marseille, France.
Fields of research: museum anthropology, political anthropology, critical heritage studies, postcolonial studies, ethnography
Presentation of my work: My research centers on the creation and development of a large-scale exhibition on Roma cultures and professions to be opened in 2023. It is the first one in the French context to be curated collaboratively with a Roma curator and a commission of Roma (and non-Roma) experts. The aim of my ethnographic fieldwork on the making of this exhibition corresponds to examining the appropriation of the exhibition’s overall content, choice of objects and modes of display by the involved curatorial members, and the way in which they engage with and intervene in seemingly fixed institutional exhibition-making processes.
Country: France/Germany
Supervisors: Cyril Isnart, IDEMEC, Aix-Marseille Université and Prof. Dr. Markus Tauschek, Institut für Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg
