Graduate
in
Foreign
Languages
and
Literatures
in
the
University
Ca’
Foscari
of
Venice
as
well
as
in
Humanities
in
the
University
of
Trieste,
she
got
a
PhD
in
History
in
the
University
of
Szeged
(Hungary).
She
has
worked
in
the
Venetian
States
Archives,
since
1979,
for
twenty
years.
In
1999
she
became
Associate
Professor
of
History
of
Islamic
Countries
in
the
University
Ca'
Foscari
of
Venice,
Department
of
Asian
and
North-‐African
Studies.
In
2003
she
started
the
courses
of
History
of
the
Ottoman
Empire
in
Ca’
Foscari
University.
In
2004
she
signed
the
first
Erasmus
agreements
between
her
institute
and
some
Turkish
universities.
Since
then,
several
Turkish
students
went
to
Venice
to
study
under
her
supervision,
while
many
Italian
students
had
the
possibility
of
making
their
researches
in
Turkey.
Her
field
of
interest
is
the
history
of
the
Ottoman
Empire
from
the
14th
c.
until
the
end
of
the
18th
c.
She
has
studied
Ottoman
documents,
diplomacy,
peace
treaties,
border
agreements
and
Ottoman-‐Venetian
relations.
On
these
subjects
she
wrote
many
essays
and
some
books
such
