"La Cuivrerie de Cerdon" is an industrial complex located in the center of the Department of Ain in activity from 1852 to 2010, manufacturing all kinds of metal objects, including a large part in copper, intended for silk factories, restaurants , hotels, but also special orders for wealthy individuals and souvenir shops. The finely chiseled and engraved products were shipped throughout Europe, to Russia, to North Africa, but also to Japan and Brazil. The Cuivrerie de Cerdon, despite a continuous working presence, is in a state of disrepair. It is for a rescue of the premises and a reopening project as a Center for Cultural Interpretation that the Department of Ain will acquire in 2018 all of the buildings as well as their contents, both objects and archives. It is in this context that the student-intern was recruited for six months for a study of the company's archives, put in boxes and kept by the Departmental Archives of Ain. The company funds represent more than 20 linear meters of archives being classified during the internship. This study allowed the emergence of a more precise chronology of the history of the company, its productions and orders. The study of sales flows, customer lists and their location, allowed a better understanding of the links between the company, its commercial entourage, as well as national and world economic and political events. This information will feed the future journey of visitors to the cultural establishment. The intern and his work are therefore in permanent contact with the scenography, museography, architecture, DRAC and heritage teams of the department. The complete thesis includes the thesis submitted to the university (pages 1 to 126), the report intended for the department (pages 127 to 271) and the appendices to the report (pages 272 to 309).
