Son calendrier illustre est le plus ancien dans un livre d’heures lombard.
Enfant prodige celebre pour ses dessins animaliers, peintre summus recherche par les conseillers ... more Enfant prodige celebre pour ses dessins animaliers, peintre summus recherche par les conseillers de la cathedrale de Milan, pictor excellentissimus detaillant les recettes de ses pigments : les contemporains ne furent pas avares de louanges en faveur de Michelino da Besozzo, peintre, enlumineur, dessinateur de patrons pour vitraux (documente a Pavie en 1388, mort a Milan avant 1454). Les bibliotheques d’Avignon et de Paris conservent deux chefs-d’œuvre de ce delicat geant du « gothique international », enlumines a Pavie au debut et a la fin de sa premiere maturite, avant qu’il ne soit appele sur le chantier international de la cathedrale de Milan, en 1404. Ces deux manuscrits – un livre d’heures et un eloge funebre suivi d’une genealogie des Visconti – permettent de revenir sur une periode heureuse, breve mais intense, de l’art de Pavie, quand, sur les murs de ses eglises et du château, parmi les feuillets enlumines de ses manuscrits, s’elabora un langage destine a un large rayonnem...
Il codice miniato, prezioso oggetto d'arte in cui si concretiz-zano due realtà espressive, testo ... more Il codice miniato, prezioso oggetto d'arte in cui si concretiz-zano due realtà espressive, testo e immagine, rappresenta lo specchio di una cultura eterogenea-quella dell'Europa dalla tarda antichità fino all'età moderna-che si caratterizza per un'estrema ricchezza di contenuti e significati. Lo studio del libro miniato consente di conoscere un mondo in cui storia, cultura e arte si intrecciano in modo complesso e profondo. È proprio nelle committenze e nelle destinazioni d'uso di queste opere-per la chiesa, per la città, per la corte-che il libro, attraverso il linguaggio dell'artista, si fa testimone di una società e di una cultura. I saggi presentati nel volume sono frutto di un approccio inter-disciplinare a questo ambito di ricerca estremamente specia-listico e rispecchiano le diverse possibili modalità di analisi negli studi sulla miniatura, evidenziando il legame tra libro miniato e società nelle diverse epoche e aree geografiche. Gli interventi seguono un percorso cronologico che, partendo dallo straordinario Rotulo di Giosuè vaticano, si snoda lungo tutto il Medioevo, per concludersi con la fiorente età del-l'Umanesimo e del Rinascimento, fornendo un interessante spaccato della civiltà del manoscritto miniato in Europa. Giordana Mariani Canova, professore emerito dell'Università di Padova, già docente ordinario di Storia della miniatura e di Storia dell'arte medievale presso la medesima Università, è presidente del-la Società Internazionale di Storia della miniatura. Ha condotto nu-merosi studi sulla miniatura medievale e rinascimentale soprattutto veneta e ferrarese, organizzando alcune importanti mostre nel Nord Italia. Recentemente si è occupata della miniatura nei manoscritti scientifici realizzati a Padova, con particolare riferimento all'astrolo-gia e alla botanica. Fra le opere pubblicate ricordiamo La miniatura veneta del Rinascimento. 1450-1500 (1969), Guglielmo Giraldi: minia-tore estense (1995) e inoltre il catalogo da lei curato della mostra Parole dipinte. La miniatura a Padova dal Medioevo al Settecento (1999). Alessandra Perriccioli Saggese, professore ordinario di Storia del-l'arte medievale e di Storia della miniatura presso la Seconda Uni-versità di Napoli, è direttore della Società Internazionale di Storia della miniatura. Autrice di numerosi studi sui manoscritti miniati dal Medioevo al Rinascimento nel Mezzogiorno d'Italia, si è occupa-ta in particolare di miniatura napoletana di età angioina. Ha curato, in collaborazione con altri studiosi, La miniatura in Italia, opera in due volumi sulla storia della miniatura dal tardo-antico al manieri-smo (2005, 2009), e il volume Manoscritti scientifici miniati fra tra-dizione classica e modelli arabi (2013). in copertina
