Currently I am the project director for the Manito Community Memory Project (www.manitos.net).
I am also a faculty member in the Chicana and Chicano Studies Program at the University of New Mexico. In Fall 2016, I began the process of designing online courses for our online B.A. in Chicana and Chicano Studies here at the University of New Mexico. In Fall 2019, our department began offering M.A. and Ph.D. degrees.
Recently, I was a contracted educator for the History and Literary Arts Department at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and I work with other educators in the Department of Cultural Affairs in the state of New Mexico.
Prior to this position I was a faculty member in the department of Humanities at Northern New Mexico College.
I was also the director for the Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America at Brown University. I was also a visiting lecturer in Ethnic Studies. I have taught American Indian Studies at Brown. I served as both the concentration and honors thesis adviser for Ethnic Studies.
At University of New Mexico, I have taught in the American Studies department, the Chicano/Hispano/Mexicano Department, the English Department and in Women's Studies.
An academic essay was recently published in the new edition of the Third Woman Press anthology and an academic review of Jose E. Limon's book: _Americo Paredes: Culture and Critique_ was published in _Aztlan: A Journal of Chicana and Chicano Studies_.
Along with all of my academic work, I also am working on more creative projects. Through Santa Clara Pueblo and the Flowering Tree Permaculture Institute, our Pueblo Food Experience Cookbook was published by Museum of New Mexico Press in Fall 2016. I have also recently published poetry and a few creative non-fiction essays.
My ancestry is in the llano estacado. I was born and raised in the southern plains of Northwest Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
