To assist these retirees in achieving their objectives of continuous desirable existence, this study was designed. Five research questions were developed and answered by the study and five hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance and 284 degree of freedom, A 60 item structured questionnaire was developed and face validated by three experts. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined using Cronbach alpha statistics and an alpha co-efficient of 0.89 was obtained. It was administered on 286 respondents made up of 120 extension agents and 164 bee keeping farmers in Enugu state. The weighted mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while t-test statistic was used to test the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed th...

An important aspect of the discussion has been adaptation/mitigation approaches. Consequently, several strategies have been suggested as measures to ensure agriculture remains productively profitable. However, food security especially in critical times, such as the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a challenge even for regions naturally endowed for agriculture. The study evaluated research recommended strategies, and further examined the innovativeness of the strategies in fostering sustainable agricultural innovation system (AIS) in the Niger Delta. The study relied on both secondary and primary data; analysed 129 previous studies and gathered responses from 282 extension agents. The study introduces a method for assessing the innovativeness of strategies by calculating their rated values on five traits. Findings revealed the issues and implications of adopting m...

It estimated and projected economic impacts of rainfall and temperature on the net income of crop farmers. Then it was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses. This study relied on secondary data from 129 previous studies sampled purposively. Data were collected using structured document review guide. Data were analysed using Least square multiple regression and ANOVA statistic to test the tasted null hypotheses. Findings of the study revealed that 69% of the variations in net income of crop production in Niger Delta is as a result of the alterations in rainfall and temperature, as a decrease in rainfall by 1[Formula: see text]mm resulted in decrease in net income by [Formula: see text]4.39[Formula: see text]k while an increase in temperature by 1∘C resulted in decrease in net income by [Formula: see text]6...

The study reported the social networking and studying patterns among students and the frequent activities they engage in while on social networks. The survey study had a population of 2052 and a sample of 996 respondents. Findings of the study revealed competitive patterns of social networking and study periods, the average hours spent daily and the most preferred time for studying and social networking as influenced by gender, location and religion. Findings further revealed that students are inclined to using social networks for non-academic purposes. The study recommended the adoption of social networks in pedagogy to balance students’ socialising time with e-studying.

To achieve this objective, five research questions were developed and answered while five null hypotheses were formulated and tested. A 103 item structured questionnaire was developed from th e literature reviewed for the study and utilize in collecting data. Survey research design was adopted for the study. The sample for the study was 68 respondents made up of 43 extension agent and 25 farmers with specialization in rabbit production. The structured questionnaire was face-validated by three experts knowledgeable in rabbit production. The Cronbach alpha method was used to test the internal consistency of the questionnaire items to obtain a co-effddicient of 0.95. The questionnaire was administered on 68 respondents; 65 copies of the questionnaire were retrieved a...

The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic and commercial performance effect of poultry management absorptive capacity in Nigeria.Design/methodology/approachStructural equation modeling was used in the analysis of a random sample of 300 poultry managers and owners surveyed within the South-Eastern Nigeria. The scales that quantified the latent variables of the factors were tested for reliability and consistency using confirmatory factor analysis.FindingsThe study found evidence that the difference between economically and commercially viable poultry businesses and failing ones depends on the level of absorptive capacity. Absorptive capacity advanced innovations that resulted in higher economic and commercial performance of poultry farm. Poultry firms' profitability, sales growth and market shares were positively increased by absorptive cap...

This study, therefore, explored the effect of rational emotive career education on irrational career beliefs among students enrolled in agricultural education program in federal universities in Enugu state. Three null hypotheses guided the study. Method: Of the population (N = 79 students) targeted for the study and who underwent a screening exercise, 61 students were recruited as participants/sample size for the study. Sequence allocation software was used to assign 31 students into experimental groups and 30 into waitlisted control group. Participants in the intervention group received a rational emotive career education program that lasted for 12 sessions while those in waitlisted group did not receive the intervention. The participants in both groups were assessed at three points (Time 1, Time 2, and Time 3) using rational and irrational belief scale. A repeated measure (ANOVA) and partial eta square statistical tools were used to analyze the data collected. Result: This study result showed that rational emotive career education significantly reduced irrational career beliefs among students enrolled in Agricultural Science Education program exposed to intervention group compared to those in waitlisted control group. It also showed that there was time × group interaction for irrational career beliefs. The follow-up assessment indicated that the efficacy of rational emotive career education was sustained overtime. Conclusion: This study concluded that rational emotive career education is beneficial in reducing irrational career beliefs of university students enrolled in Agricultural Science Education program. Recommendations were also made in line with the results.

Cashew apples are being wasted due to lack of processing and are not much cherished because of its astringency. Some of the available clarifying agents are costly and are mainly imported. The study was, therefore, aimed at finding out the effect of M. oleifera seed powder on the clarity and phytochemical and nutritional contents of cashew apple juice. The study adopted an experimental design where 5 g, 10 g, 15 g, and 20 g of M. oleifera seed powder were used to clarify 250 cm3 of cashew apple juice. The setups were filtered using a filter paper after standing for an hour to get the clarified juice. The clarity of each filtrate was determined using an atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). Similarly, the tannin, lignin, pectin, protein, starch, calcium, zinc, copper, magnesium, and vitamin C were determined following the procedure of the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC). Results showed t...
